HR-24 freezes when switching channel: new issue?

    New HR24 issue?

    I am noticing a new problem with my HR-24's

    when I switch to a new channel, it tunes to it, works for a second, then the picture freezes/ audio stops

    by switching to another channel & back, it starts to work OK

    I am using direct entry channel commands through USB port

    I have rebooted the receiver: problem still exists

    Seems to be an intermittent problem with the HR24-500. I upgraded DVR's two months ago, and I can report three instances of similar occurrences. Twice while watching recorded content, and once when switching to live tv. I was unable to recover recorded content (audio or video) past the freeze point, but like the original poster, was able to clear the live channel freeze by selecting an alternate channel, and returning to the previously viewed live channel, with success.

    I have also experienced the freezing when switching to another channel a few times. It hasn't been a big deal. However, not being able to watch recorded content would be a major problem.

    Does this still happen when using a normal remote?

    One of my HR24-500's exhibits the "delayed video freeze" syndrome maybe 5% of the time following a channel change via the PREVious button on the remote. Most of the time, the audio keeps going. Hitting the PREVious button again or changing the channel manually has "fixed" the problem so far. Restarts or RBR's have not made any difference. My other HR24-500 has never exhibited this behavior.

    I keep seeing comments about a software update to address the Hx24 specific audio dropout issue and am hopeful that the video freeze and Caller ID issues will also be corrected.
