My remote stopped doing RF yesterday.
I have tried the following things.
Making sure the receiver is still set to RF.
Changing to IR then back to RF.
    clearmybox
    double red button reset
    re-downloading the box software
    reset through menu.
buying a new remote at Walmart.
Does this mean something has failed inside of my HR24?
I have tried everything except the reset everything button. I don't want to lose all my settings and recordings since that probably won't work either.
Directv did do a SW update on 1-21-21, but I don't think it would have waited a month to fail if that caused it.

What REMOTE TYPE the RC66 is the correct one -for the Hr24 (LARGE WHITE REMOTE) ---the RC7X (peanut) remotes Will NOT work RF for the HR24 --only IR --Because the RC7X uses a NEW version of RF .

I’m assuming you have an ‘R’ after the ‘RC66’?

    Is the 24 a -100, -200 or -500?

For some reason, the RF mode is working again. I hope it stays that way.

Perhaps something in your home is interfering with the RF signal?

It's possible, but it's been working for years. I have decided just to not worry about it since I think I read somewhere you have to have a truck roll to get a new box. I'm not doing that unless the HD fails.

Replacement HR2x’s typically never require truck rolls these days, if that helps.
