Just to check with others....I can only get channel 1000. The others say "is currently not available." Is this what others are getting?

Given that you lose a recording option if you chose to download a VOD I think it would be make a lot of sense to be able to schedule the download. I kow you can pause but that is not the same thing.

It will make al ot of sense to download a lot of content at 2:00 AM or so.

To get 1000 I just keyed it in and I got it right away. Only had it enabled for 30 sec.

I can see now why we can't use 1 and the channel # for the new HD channels. This is how they are doing the VOD channels. IE history channel is 269. VOD history channel is 1269.

So is this to say we will not be able to watch the video as it is downloading. Will we have to wait for the entire download to complete before it can be started or can we go to Queue and watch once it hits a certain percentage?

you can do whatever you want. If you dont want to watch the VOD item then just change the channel. It will appear in the play list with the download meter. You can watch it during downloads too.

You can try RESTARTING your receiver, but like many others, that may/may not be a fix.

Not networked yet here. Enabled VOD about 3 hrs. ago. Just now reset to see if it would pick up. Didn't work.
Guess we'll see what happens tomorrow. I now need to invest in a good router or whatever to get the networking going.....
    Anybody with suggestions on that??
House already wireless networked with a desktop & laptop, dsl and D-link router in the office.....

I would like to throw in a suggestion about the UI...

When using the HR20 in most, if not all areas of the UI, the channel buttons double as page buttons to quickly scroll through menus. I am a big fan of this as a carry over from TiVo. With the VOD menus (not program listings), the channel buttons now actually change the channels, OH NO! I read this in Earl's first look review so I realize it is intentional, but it is inconsistent with the rest of the UI.

My suggestion would be to have the channel buttons continue to function as page while on the left menu. They already have a menu item titled 'Other channels' for quick navigation to the other channels, so changing channels will be pretty easy.

I would also like to see the arrow keys be able to go over to the ads on the right of the screen on channel 1000, again like Encore and TCM for quick access to those programs. I would have to assume that that feature is coming.

Yes that is what i wanted to know. So how far into a download have you been able to start watching it? 1%? 5%?

Ditto - seems slower than it should be.

Otherwise channel 1000 seems to be working fine after I added the 1XXX channels to my favorites. (Though it will be a while before I have a complete program to view.)

Get the "torn highlight" periodically, especially when hitting Ch Down when already on the last page.

Also, I notice that "The" is not factored out of the sorting. I.E., all the programs whose names start with "The" are grouped together. I'd prefer that the sorting ignore a leading "The".

    Need more HD!!!!

I can see tons of comments like this coming in the future. Maybe D* should put a speed test application on the box that would give an estimate of how long it will take to download every X minutes of content, or even a simple green/yellow/red indicator for performance.

I just tried and it started as soon as I could get back to list . So I would say 1% maybe lower . Proably depends on your connection .
