I did not see it connect, just try. Hence why I said I didn't know if there were other ports that would be utilized.

I'm trying to sniff the HR20 right now, but it will take some time to complete. I sniffed just port 10000 and it registered as filtered.

I pulled the specs for DTCP, Here if you like, and it seems this is a simple key exchange problem. I see the same port 10000 calls as everyone else and I'm guessing that is where the key exchange is failing and thus not making the connection.

I tried searching some config files for the exchange key, but it wouldn't do me much good anyway as I don't know what the key is on the HR20. I think we will have to wait for the developers as they are the only ones with that information.

Something I forgot to mention because I was more caught up with the PC side. Bringing my media room HR20 out of standby after the upgrade, the buffer was empty. Don't remember what the status was on my office HR20.

Tony .. I noticed the same thing. I suspect that it's only a problem when in standby after the forced download and not a problem when put into standby manually.

The folks at DirecTV think they have identified the issue, but it won't be until at least tomorrow (Monday) before they have a new build to your units.

They wanted me to extended their thanks to you, for all the feedback... which helped them narrow down and identify what they think is the issue.

They want to give any hint as to what it was? Or will it remain a mystery to us.

Just the programmer in me being curious.

So it's an HR20 firmware problem vs. any problem with the PC playback software?

I'm reporting a problem here simply because I'm on the 0x120F version now .. This is unrelated to the PC Playback.

I went to watch the results show for American Idol which was recorded last Thursday on Firmware 0x207. We didn't attempt to play the show until tonight (already know the results). It is a complete 1-hour recording of a black screen.

I know some other folks are seeing this pop up in other versions, but wanted to note that I am seeing it as well. This is the first black screen issue of any kind that I have personally seen since about this time last year.

Looking forward to the new update, which they can install on my unit whenever they want, no need to wait until night:D

I can toss my theory out there, but it would be just that a theory. I have no more knowledge than you with regards to what the real problem is .. but alas I think I'll hold back :D

It's cool that they may have found the issue, but I wasn't expecting a response until tomorrow at the earliest.

I don't know if I'll ever get to meet the engineers or even chat with them on here, but I want them to know the fact that they're actually looking into this today shows the type of dedication they have and they have my utmost respect. I work in IT and I've done plenty of weekend stuff away from my family to appreciate this.

If we ever get to meet, the first few rounds are on me.

At times I've created some things myself and swore up and down that it's perfect only to find out a few minutes later that the first person that tries it can't even get it past step 1 .. We're here to test and much better here in this small group than out in the open.

I'll be on the lookout for the next version .. Thanks to the Engineering team.

Absolutely. Imagine if an issue similar to this occurred with the public CE group... we'd never hear the end of it. This small group is perfect for new features like this. Much nicer to be in the presence of civilized and knowledgeable testers :D

I for one have really enjoyed myself thus far hunting for solutions and testing different twists on everyday use to see if even with the issue we have currently that I could get anything to work.

Thank you guys, the DirecTV engineers, and the Mods here this has been most enjoyable!

It's just getting started .. wait until tomorrow (hopefully) when it starts working :)

But the key is to find things that are not working. I'm sure DIRECTV wants this product to be one rocking product when it's ready to even go beta (as a CE).
