I am using an HR20/700 which is not giving me any trouble but I am wondering how much better are the new hddvrs. Can anyone tell me is worth the cost and effort to upgrade to an HR21,22OR23. Will I see a big difference in whatever?

    Yikes! I wouldn't do it.

If you're HR20 is owned I'll buy it from you just to see how much worse the HR21/22/23 boxes are!

Read around - the HR20 is not a speed machine but it is faster than the others.

I have an owned HR20 700 that I would like to sell or trade for an owned HR 23. I really like the black but my box just keeps working great. I have (2) and one is not activated.

The hr20-700 was the best hardware in the box. Paint it black!;)

I'd think there would only be a few options, find an owned black HR20-100, or buy a HR21Pro. I'd think there'd be few owned 23s, other than if someone had an owned bad box replaced under the Protection Plan.

Only thing good about 22-23 is bigger internal drive, and no BBCs on the 23.

Yup, you'll see a whopping big difference. Don't buy into the nonsense that all the HRs are "functionally equal". All that means is that they are "supposed" to do the same thing when you push the same button on the remote.

If I were you I'd treasure that 20-700. I'll never lease another model and I'll only buy owned 20-700s. If they are gonna make a "better" HR, I hope everyone enjoys it, I won't do anything that will put me back into my contract with D*. All my 20-700s work as they should and I have no doubt that if I had other models I wouldn't be able to say that. You've got the best, stick with it.

The only HR I haven't had is the Pro model. I've tried the rest, except for the 22-200, which I've never seen anyplace, and the 20-700s are, simply, the best.

You can still find owned 23s for sale. MDU folks still sell them on the Net. Just takes some searching to find them and then you have to make sure they are owned and not leased. A 21Pro is gonna cost you a lot, I would think, since they were only sold and not leased and the sale price was/is pretty high.

Are you still interested in selling your owned HR20-700? I live in Columbus, GA and can pay through paypal.
