Does the HR20 support 3D with the new SW upgrade?
That's the only HRx series that does not. Every other model (from the HR21 to the current HR24 release) does.
So, would they give me a free upgrade?
As long as you provide them with the code displayed on your 3D TV when you try to view 3D content.
I guess that's their way of making sure there aren't people without 3D TV's just hoping to get free upgrades.
Called them today and they are sending out a HR24!
Just to make sure mine is displaying the right thing, what is the code?
Just kidding! That is nice of them to swap them out. I wonder if they will finally break down and be able to specify what receivers go out since the new ones are a different breed and the old ones can't do 3D. Have we heard anything if Hx24s get replaced with only Hx24s yet?
Fixed that for you.
Would be funny if they sent another HR20 since they supposedly can't pick and choose
Let us know if it is an HR24 for sure.
I don't have a 3D TV, at least a supported one, so I dunno. From what has been said it may even be a different code per HR20.
Probably not for the OP.
It is! Got it yesterday. It is a night and day difference.
I thought you could use MRV and the 20s and use a 24 to display 3D from the 20's HDDs. Am I wrong?
From what I understand as long as playback is being done by a unit that supports 3D you're ok. So playing a recording that resides on an HR20 thru an HR24 should work.
Thought so, not that I have any real interest (yet) in 3D sets. The more I read about the motion sickness problem, the less I want one. Ever been in the middle of the North Atlantic and been seasick? I do nothing that gives me that feeling.
I don't think that it's that simple. I'm pretty sure the CSR has to do something to make the code appear so it's not as simple as just using the code that someone else gives you.
I have a HR20-100. Called in yesterday to advise them I now have a 3D TV. CSR was aware of HR20's problem with 3D and advised a reciever and a over the air tuner would be shipped free of charge. Receiver arrived today. Only one problem, it was a HR20-700. Off to the telephone again.
OK, now that's just about silly .. Make sure you go through the right process with them. The CSR may not even be aware. They need to "do something" (I'm not exactly sure what it is) so that a code appears on your TV. Once you see the code, you give that back to them and they enter the details into there system and you should get a newer receiver (possibly even an HR24). If the conversation was more like "sure, I'll send you a new box out" with no other coordination, then it is very likely that things were not done correctly on the CSR end.
