+1 Welcome home and your still in my evening prayers
this was a weird issue that i never had before.
i was watching a recording and about half way through the screen went black and no sound. i FFW x1 and the picture/sound came back, but when i went to rewind i couldn't go back at all.
i stoped the recording and hit start over to see if it reproduce the issue (which wasn't able to reproduce). it seems to be a one time ordeal so far all recordings has played fine.
now i'm starting to get a breif pop-up saying"searching for sat" again on tuner 2 during channel changes. when 0x195 was first forced i did not have this issue but now it's back.
also, i tried a reset everything to see if that fixes the issue on having to do 3 RBR's to get it rebooted. still no luck eveytime on the first 2 RBR's it still hangs at 23% on step 2 of 2 recieving Sat information.
Had a blast from the past...
Went to play the Criminal Minds recording from last Wednesday, and got the instant "keep or delete" option. There was no indication of a problem in history, and the episode properly showed as 1 hour long.
After a few attempts, I did a menu reset of the HR21...and, as I feared, the show had disappeared from the list of recordings.
History shows "This episode has been cancelled because of an unexpected error (2004)."
Had not seen this happen since the early days of the HR20.
Was flipping through pictures in music and photos from main pc using tversity. I stopped on a picture and paused it. After about 20 seconds, I hit stop and exit. the box locked up solid, the blu ring is lit and the blue power light lights when I push a button but there is no response. I am doing a rbr at this time.
Oh man, that SUCKS! That was a good episode too. Hope you got it on the HR20.
Most times there is no audio when we initially start a recording from Playlist.
Hit the Replay/RW button and the audio returns and we have audio for the portions that initially had no audio. Awkward sentence but you get the point.
It doesn't happen every time but most of the time. There doesn't seem to be any pattern. It happens on both HD & SD - MPEG2 & MPEG4.
At the end of the Thur 1/17/08 Jeopardy episode, the time indicated 29 minutes then momentarily flashed 297.3 minutes just prior to the delete message.
Yes, I had a backup, fortunately.
I gotta say, this unit has been pretty rock solid for me. To date, I can't report any recording issues. The only complaint I have is that the unit seems slow to respond to remote commands again. I had this issue before the 0x195 firmware upgrade. Just after the upgrade, the response was very snappy... but over time it seems to have become much worse. Is anyone else seeing this?
I have not restarted the receiver since the upgrade, but I do put it in stand-by mode when not watching TV through it.
Getting the same thing... plus audio stutters on Dolby Digital when the audio does come in.
Going to re-check all the connections later today. I've done a number of Menu Resets and the problem goes away until the unit is put in standby.
Question about standby....
If it still buffers the live channel and records shows while in standby, how is that different from when it's not in standby?
It would seem the only difference is it doesn't output.
I suppose it would reduce the processing load...
Both recordings set for AUTORECORD were missed today the autorecord is set up for Roy Rogers . My HR20 picked up both and recored them.
Just to clarify in case it caused some confusion, I didn't mean to insinuate that putting the box in stand-by was causing this... it was simply a little more information about my normal usuage.
Since I have my HR21-100 and my HR20-700 right next to each other in my entertainment cabinet, I turn the HR21 off (stand-by) when not in use so that our nanny does not get confused.
With that said, if you are not familiar with Stand-by mode, as you said, it does turn off the signal output to the TV or other connected devices. It also allows for background processing (to-do list, guide data download, etc) to occur sooner.
Again, these are not my motives for using stand-by, but I am curious as to whether or not the increased background processing may be causing a memory leak or something to slow down the box's normal operation speed.
I was watching an NBALP game about 4 hours behind live--the program was still recording within the scheduled window.
Shortly after 11:30 pm, I started to get a popup: This program is not available in your area. This seems odd, since I was watching the game without any problem (other than this popup). Pressing a combination of buttons (SELECT, EXIT, PLAY) would make the popup go away, but it always back after a few seconds.
I recalled that the recorded NBALP channel was still on the "live" tuner; that is, the one that was visible when I brought the box out of standby. I had to hit the MUTE and shield my eyes to avoid a spoiler (sports news was on) till I got the recording started. I couldn't switch channels because the other tuner was also recording.
I stopped the playback and--Aha!--the popup was displayed on a blank screen. I used the miniguide to check what was playing on the mirroring RSN, and, sure enough, it was a rebroadcast of the same game. (As an aside, I find it annoying that the RSN rebroadcasts overnight are blacked out, even if you have Sportspack and the relevant league sub. I realize these are contractual arrangements, but it would be useful to be able to record or view the rebroadcast if needed. Anyway...) So I halted the recording (Stop and Keep) and switched the live channel. Resumed the playback, without the popup.
I haven't had a chance to try to duplicate this sequence on one of my HR20s, so I don't know if this bug is unique to the HR21-100. But certainly, the popup shouldn't interfere with the playback. Now--it would be useful to know if a program you think is recording is not being recorded because of a blackout restriction. But there should be a different popup for that (e.g., The program you are recording is not available. Please press select for more information).
The progress bar on my HR20s has irregular tickmarks on longer recordings (several hours). For example, the ticks are at :27, 55, 1:23, etc., instead of :30, 1:00, 1:30.
This bug did not occur with the original (as shipped) software on the HR21; the tickmarks were at the regular intervals you'd expect. But 195 has brought the irregular tickmarks to the box.
Sorry if I implied some relationship between Stand-by and the slow response.
I've always been confused about the purpose/advantage of putting the unit in Stand-by.
Other than output, it doesn't seem to provide any advantages.
I guess I'm still used to TiVo since I have never put either the HR20 or HR21 in Stby.
Should I be putting the unit in stby?
Put the unit in standby; leave your amp on and turned up.
You'll always know when it reboots.
I'm not sure I understand what you mean...
Leave which amp on?
he means your audio receiver... cause after it reboots, it will go back to live... and you'll hear it...
