Are folks having trouble playing while DLing only on the -21, or across the board?

I tried a DL the other night to verify my connection (I'm having some media share problems, related to my router, I think), and I was able to both download and play while it was downloading. But that was on a 20-700.

It was my error I try watching them before they fully recorded and could not watch them. Last night I let it finish D/L and I was able to watch it and able to watch it over and over without any problems

Tonight we watched House that was recorded last night. Almost 1/2 the show had bad audio and video breakups. It was to the point of being annoying, but not unwatchable. We didn't have any weather issues last night that I know of. It didn't seem like a rain fade type of thing anyway.

I'm surprised this isn't a sticky yet... I have had no problems to report for this CE. I have DL'd several DOD items, but I am yet top watch them.

The unit is somewhat slow, just like my HR20-700s...

HistHD ch269 was on while I was watching Modern Marvels.
6:56pm Started Smash Lab from the Playlist.
7:00pm Background tuner starts recording Jeopardy.
7:30pm Background tuner finishes recording Jeopardy.
7:48pm(progress bar time) I finished watching Smash Lab, chose to delete from the popup menu at the end and returned to Playlist.
I hit Exit button to return to live TV to find the current channel is still ch269 HistHD but the buffer is gone and the the progress bar indicates that the buffer starts at 7:48pm.

If SLB doesn't work then the current DLB workaround could be ineffective. If you get to the end of the program you're watching from the Playlist, will it then clear the buffer of the live tuner?

Welp, same issue keeps happening as in my 2 previous issue posts.

It seems that every day at 2:00pm, our HR21 goes from whatever you ware watching to the screen saver. Hitting a button to bring it back yields a 727 error. When it happened today, Mrs. Pinion turned the unit off. She waited for 10 minutes, powered it back on, and it showed the white background DirecTV HD+DVR logo (similar to the one you see when you reboot the unit) and it had music playing in the background. Hit info and it showed it was on channel 1010. Nothing was recording, and since I don't have DOD activated on my account yet.....i don't know.....?

I can't for the life of me figure out why the heck the receiver is doing this every day at 2:00 since updating to this CE.

If anyone has any info, thoughts, or suggestions, please feel free to let me know.

    Thanks guys!

There is a strange manual recording in my playlist... This has popped up sometime since I downloaded the last CE... According to the date on it, it was on 2/2... Neither my wife nor I scheduled this...

Tonight, for the first time, I had my signal readings go haywire.

I was watching the local news on channel 3 (WREG HD), then tuned to channel 75 (TNTHD) and got a searching for signal on 1.

I went into my signal readings... On tuner 1... the 101 showed all 0's except for 2 transponders... I went to get the camera, came back, and then they were all 0.

Most all sats gave 0's the first time through.... Only 99(s) actually had signals on tuner 1...

Tuner 2 gave readings, but they all seemed pretty low. At least 10 points lower than normal...

If I flipped back and forth from tuner 1 to tuner 2, sometimes tuner 1 would give all 0's... and then it would have (the lowered) readings...

A menu reset seems to have cleared it up for now...

Got the usual pixellation while watching Lost (at 10 PM, after it finished recording).

I say usual, because there's almost always some brief pixellation on the ABC LIL. I notice this only rarely on other LILs, and not at all on other sat channels. Don't watch my local RSN much, but I haven't noticed it on that.

This is the first time I recall it on the HR-21, but it's a frequent visitor to the HR20-700.

Pixellation is green, covers most of the screen, and lasts 5-10 seconds. Audio is fine during the pixellation.

...and I know this belongs elsewhere, but--

DirecTV really has to give us an option to kill the PIG/PIL.

I was flipping between dvrs at about 8:50 last night. I'm usually careful to press MUTE and LIST or another service screen when there's something on the live tuner that I don't want to see.

But I was a little slow last night, and heard, "That's x votes for XXX" before I could kill the audio on Survivor.

Sure, this is my fault. (I should have been more careful).
But really, how hard is it to give us a user option to kill the PIG/PIL (and, of course, to remember that option).

    OK, back to topic.

Man, I keep having this issue and I'm surprised I don't seem more people complaining about it. Last night I sat down to watch some recordings and wow was it slow. Sometimes I was sitting there waiting and pressing the same button repeatedly (5-10 seconds between presses) without response. And I know it's not just an issue with the button presses not reaching the unit because the screens are being painted really slowly too. I usually come out of standby and have this problem for the first 5 minutes or so... then it seems to free up and move quicker. Still, later on I'll usually notice some other things that just seem to take much longer than normal (normal being my HR20-700). Things like the "Keep or delete" prompt, or opening the playlist or guide.

I was showing a family member some of the DOD stuff using the HR21-100 last night (he doesn't know anything about this stuff so he has no clue about the field test, nor did I mention the model number) and he even said something about it being really slow to respond. So much so that he asked "Is that normal?"

Because the problem usually corrects itself (for the most part), I did not restart the receiver.

I'm not seeing this. While no speed demon and slower at some times than others, my HR21-100 doesn't feel any slower (or faster) than my HR20-700s.

I would agree... the guide is overall pretty slow on both of my units (HR21-100 and HR20-700)... especially compared to the guides of the H20/21's....

Did you let it finish then try to watch it? or did it start to d/l and you tried to watch it?
I can't watch it when it is d/l only when it finishes.
Also what update is the poll for?
