This weekend I tried turning my antenna because the spot on the roof next to the antenna was actually free of snow for the first time in months. I turned it to try and pick up the next closest stations (~80 miles away) but I got nothing. I tried the AM21 tuners and the tv tuners, neither picked it up. I'm debating about picking up a bigger antenna and trying it, since mine is only rated for about 70 miles on UHF.

Don't know if it's worth it though, I'll probably just stick with what I have. It was a fun experiment if nothing else.

    Try a pre-amp :)

I also experimented with this. There are stations about 90 miles away that my tv nor the AM21 would pickup. I happened to already have a cheap Channel Master amp and put it inline and did get two of the distant channels at 40% but the AM21 wouldn't lock onto them. Worth a try anyway.

OTA channels respond to transport keys normally.

Channel changes are as seemless as satellite channels. Along with the same banner issues.

There are still some audio issues after trickplay.

    Mike

On a completely irrelevant note, the AM21 is just a hair(≈1/8”) wider than the HR21. The DirecTV logos are different sizes. If I lineup the logos, the left edges line up but the right side of the AM21 overhangs the HR21. If I center the AM21 on the HR21 so the overhangs are the same, then the logos look awkward.

I was watching a program on TBS HD this afternoon and had some audio difficulties after returning to live tv from the buffer...

It started out as drops, so I hit 6 second replay as I normally do to fix this issue. However, that didn't fix it. So I hit it again, and then ended up with no audio at all. I had to pause if for 5 or 6 seconds to get the audio return.

To make sure the problem wasn't in the broadcast, I went back and replayed that part of the program... But all was fine...

Watched recording today of last night's CSI Miami on OTA, towards the end of the program it experienced 30 seconds or so of video and audio stutter. Replayed the recording to the point the stutter occurred and all was well.

I noted in the last CE that I noticed some choppy playback in the American Idol recordings... I am now noticing some choppiness in live TV... I have noticed it on TBS HD and FX HD... However, the American Idol recording seemed to play fine tonight...

I'm getting a lot audio drop outs after trick play.

When we're watching a recording, I have to hit the replay button a time or two to allow for the dropout so we don't miss anything.

Response to the remote is slowing down. I switched to a new remote last week and at first I thought that might be the problem. However it's only in the last couple of days that it seems slower.

Since getting this update remote response has been sluggish but not it seems to wait a second before executing a command.

I had a problem similar to this with the last field test CE and it took a menu restart to fix the problem. I'll have to try that when I get home and see if it makes a difference.

Still having the response issue as well. This morning it seemed as though it had sped up somewhat from last evening but this afternoon it's right back to it's sluggish ways. When it is acting at its slowest, scrolling through menus and lists is painfully slow at best. Also, the "banner lag" and "Native On" issues still make for some choice words. :(

I had more video choppiness while watching live TV tonight... I was watching American Idol live and switched between the HD LIL and the OTA feed... Both seemed choppy at first... I stuck with the sat feed and it seemed to clear up...

I did a menu reset and will keep an eye on it...

I too am still getting random audio and now video stutter. Also, like AirRocker mentions, the server logoff message can hit at any time after shutting down a pc.

Menu Restart didn't have any effect menu sluggishness (that a word?).

Audio drop outs are sometimes very bad and other times it's fine.

Watching Jeopardy (LiL local ABC - SD) last night it was bad.

Stargate Atlantis (SciFiHD MPEG4) was fine. No drop outs.

Stargate Atlantis (SciFiHD MPEG4 differnet episode) lots of drop outs.

    I can't find a pattern.

Maybe it's time of day...or what the live tuner is on when I'm watching a recording...or stray quarks....

I'm having an issue with auto correction after FW through commercials.

I have noticed that with HD if I hesitate after I see the show it gets closer to the the end of the commercial set.

For SD shows it jumps back only a little. I have to rewind to get to the begining of the show.

It takes 4-7 presses of the Replay button. I've tried making sure I press the play button but it's always too late.

However, SD just seems to stop almost when I press play with just a small jump back.

I realize that alot depends on where I press the play button and how fast I FW (almost always FWx3). That's why I, at first, thought it was me. Now I think it might be the firmware.

    Can anyone else test this?

As reported by RAD in the HR21-200 thread, my HR21-100 has experienced the same issue also on local OTA channel 3-1 WTKR. The attached image is courtesy of RAD for illustration purposes only. The channels are different but the issue is the same.

Today I was watching a program on TBS HD... I was about 5 minutes back in the buffer... and experienced audio drops that were not there upon rewinding and playing the same part again... the drops were not bad... about a half second... every minute or so...

When it got to a commercial, I changed channels and came back... seemed okay then.

Not sure if it's just my frustration with it so I notice it more, but the audio stutter problems seem to be getting worse.

However, I have to say my audio problems seem pretty mild in comparison after seeing Donny's video issues!

I'm also still seeing what I would consider choppiness in the video... happens daily... only for short periods of time (a few seconds)... but it usually is still there if I rewind and play the same part again... so I'm not sure if it's in the broadcast, or what?

I will try to examine it more closely and see if I can figure out a pattern to it... but it seems to happen on all types of channels...

This is rare for me but does happen.

Audio will run for a few seconds with a second or two drop in a repeating cycle.

I haven't timed it but it seems to repeat at regular intervals.

I know this is closing but I had to post this issue.

At 7:00pm SLs started recording Torchwood, ch79 HDN MPEG-2 and Jeopardy LiL ABC SD and the live tuner was on channel ch79.

    • 8:45pm Started watching General Hospital, LiL ABC SD. Pressed play on the folder.
    • 9:00pm SL started recording Two And Half Men, LiL CBS HD MPEG-4.
    • 9:33pm General Hospital ended and it went on to the next episode...
At this point my wife exited the new episode and deleted the episode (GH) that she had just watched.

    Now back to live TV.

It is still on ch 79 HDN but the buffer is clear to the point that my wife reached the end of the episode.

I hadn't even tested this since it had be a non-issue in the past couple of versions. It seems it is back.

Bummer to because it was one of my favorite episodes of Startrek: Enterprise and I wanted to rewind it.
