I wish they would use upper case letters. More than once I have mistaken the lower case f for a 1.

I am having a strange audio issue, but I had this just BEFORE the download last night too... only on live TV. It's stuttering, and when watching FoxNews I see the ticker jumping as if someone is trying to forward past live TV (but without the bong that tells you that you cannot). This goes away on its own after 10 or so seconds, but you can make it instantly better by changing the channel.

    Anyone else seeing this?

    Channel HR20-700 HR21-200/AM21

    5-1 85/85 93/93 (less bounce on AM21 as well)
8-1 100/100 100/100 (no bounce on either receiver)
    8-2 100/100 100/100 (ditto)
    11-1 ditto ditto
    11-2 ditto ditto
    13-1 ditto ditto
    17-1 80/80 83/83 (less bounce on AM21 as well)
23-1 54-71/56-84 69-77/67-83 (lots of bounce on both, AM21 better)

Both receivers fed by the same antenna, balanced signal levels, fine tuned OTA setup (gain distribution, preamps, attenuators etc)

The AM21 tuner is better in both dimensions:

    a. Bit-Error-Rate (as shown by the higher percentage on all non-full strength stations)

    b. Maintaining BER in the face of multi-path (bounce). The bounce range in the AM21 is considerably less on those signals where bounce/multi-path is a problem.

Both the HR20-700 and the HR21-200/AM21 produce a perfect OTA signal at first glance. Lots more looking to do at the PQ of the HR21-200/AM21.

GREAT START D*! Congrats on a job well done.

Man, there aren't many of us HR21-200 posters here, where is everyone, or did we only get 7 units out to test?

BTW, it doesn't look like the unit itself needs much testing...assuming it has longitudinal stability, it seem very ready to go. (perhaps there are firmware issues in setup for the HR21-xxx, but my 200 acted absolutely normally when it came to setup of the OTA stuff. Everything worked first time.

The only thing I notice is channel 17-2 is missing...it shows on the HR20-700. 17-1 is fine (and it is the important one in HD, as -2 is the same channel reformatted SD)

I recorded two OTA programs simultaneously this afternoon and it went without a hitch.

Overall, I'm very impressed. Nice footprint, aesthetically appealing, doesn't run warm (on top of the HR21-200), and the tuner is very, very good.

Yes, we definitely seem to be a small (elite!) group.
I have been running the AM21 since this morning and am impressed so far. I needed to do some work in the attic including moving my CM4228 antenna, so I did some multipath testing. I had a struggle with multipath originally on the HR20-700 on two of the DFW stations, both in low UHF. This time when I set my antenna up again, I was getting obvious multipath issues again on the HR20 (signals fluctuating from 80s to zero) but the AM21 signals were perfectly stable. I have since adjusted my CM4228 location/direction to eliminate the multipath issue on the HR20.

Just wanted say I am here and testing but so far it has been rock solid.

Adding the AM21 and the new software has not added any problems that I have found so far and I have done a lot of testing.

When I set the unit up the other day I only added one market (Baltimore) and tested that for two days. Then yesterday I reran the antenna setup and added a 2nd market (Washington D.C.) to see how that works and if any problems started and no problems yet.

    Dripping...
Trick play watching recording of Simpsons via the AM21 was horrible, hit 30 sec skip and it would take 1 or 2 seconds before actually doing it.

I've seen the audio format not supported pop up message on my Sony KDF46E2000 via HDMI when using trick play (seen this on the regular CE cycle updates also). Need to change the channel to a channel using a different audio format (ex. PCM -> DD ->PCM or DD->PCM->DD) to get the audio back. No problem with audio using TOSLINK connection to my Sony audio receiver, just to the TV.

    2 Problems

    1) I have been getting a lot of audio drop outs on all DIRECTV channels (SD and HD).

    2) When using FWx3 or RWx3 a lot of times when I press play I get audio for a second and than it cuts out for 5 to 20 seconds. No problem with video when this happens.

I've noticed that changing channels on the HR21-200/AM21 is way slower than on my HR20 boxes. Like, 4 seconds to change a channel.

Very occasionally I will get a brief display of the box saying "no off-air signal" when changing channels.....

I've only noticed this when viewing out local CBS station (KEYE-DT ch42). When transistion between scenes I will get some picture breakup, usually when there's a lot of black in the scene. Here's a couple pictures from the HR21/AM21 with examples. I was watching this on my H21-200 live and didn't see this occur on that set but saw it on my HR21/AM21 when I was checking recordings to see how it's working. The first was during a Tylenol commecial where they had mostly a black background and was changing the graphice. The second was during a break in LateNight (Letterman) where they were showing the Statue of Liberty, was fading to black, got the breakup where you can see some lines of the scene when it was brighter. This was via OTA, not HD LIL.

I continue to get the annoying audio glitch that either going back six seconds or changing the channel fixes. Only while watching Live TV

After one week with the AM21/HR21-200 combination, I have only a few problems to report. A couple of glitches on installation (posted in the installation issues thread). The occasional very brief "searching for signal on off-air tuner" message. One "trick play" issue, where the HR21 just seemed to stop responding correctly to the trick play commands for about 20 seconds (I notice this was reported in the HR21-700 thread also).
I have not seen the stuttering audio issue, on DirecTV or OTA, even when I fast forward to live.
OTA reception/signal strength continues to be great, definitely outperforming both my HR20s. I will try to check it against my H20-600 this weekend.

I had not used my HR21-200 for a couple of days, and had left it on an OTA channel (Seattle KIRO, 7-1).

When I turned it on, there was no buffer, and no trick play. I could not pause, and with no buffer I obviously could not back up, etc.

A channel change fixed the problem.

I'm seeing the picture glitch (breakup/blocks popping up) on KVUE-DT (ch 24-1) also. Again, this appears to happen mostly on images where a lit of the realestate is black, when there's a full screen image, or even a full 4:3 in crop mode I don't see the problem. A few pictures attached show the problem. Signal strength on the channel is in the high 90's and I don't see it bouncing around and don't see this problem on any other ATSC tuners attached to the same antenna or even off the same drop in the room with the HR21-200/AM21.

1st pic, notice the bottom of the letters missing. 2nd pic the bottom is supposed to be black from the mountain, the 3rd just shows a random white block popping up.
