Same here. Woke up to the NFL draft and unit was unrepsonsive to commands from remote and front panel. RBR worked. Same thing just happened but was stalled on the guide although waiting 5 minutes it is now responding again without a RBR

My HR21-200 (prior to latest CE) locked up completely. Would not even respond to RBR, required pulling the power plug.

My HR20-700 locked up today, and there is another thread where people are complaining of lockups. I think it is more wide spread than the HR21-200 specific.

I had exactly the same problem. My HR21-200 locked up completely with no lights on. It missed couple of recordings because of that. RBR worked however. This is the first time it ever happened. HR20-700 locked up also and I had to pull the plug to reset it.

Ever since the latest download (0x022B), my HD channels have been losing their signal. At first, I thought it might be just the locals or just the premiums, but I've since discovered that it will lose signal on all of them (I'm in the Dallas-FW market). The regular SD channels work fine. And in all cases, the weather is perfectly fine. I typically have to reset the receiver, wait the typical 10-15 minutes for the machine to reboot and re-initialize, then my HD signal works again.

Anyone else see this happening? This was not the case prior to the latest "dump" of 0x022B on 4/23.

Friday nights "Countdown with Keith Oberman" recorded with picture but no sound for the whole show (or the sound was recorded but wouldn't play) on my HR21 -- everything else recorded Friday seems fine and the same show recorded on my DirecTiVo HR10 played fine as well.

Also as with many others once or twice a day the receiver appears to ignore the remote but then after a few minutes seems to do everything that got queued up while trying to get a response.

There appears to be a pattern setting in in not only the HR21 series, but also HR20 series DVRs of late with lock-ups. It covers more than one version of firmware and more than one model, so something is up on this, and I have posted this in its own thread.

    Thanks for affirming your experience.

For my parents - HR21-200, native off, IR remote, connected via hdmi to Vizio VO47L FHDTV

    Non-responsive yesterday and tonight.

Last night just watching TV and wouldn't respond, had to rbr.

Tonight, watching local FOX HD via SAT and went to access list, non-responsive. Had to rbr

I have issues when playing back recorded show. If I have any less than 70% left on my hard drive, playback suffers terribly. It stutters bad, and eventually locks up.

The only way I can fix it is to delete programs until the "space counter" goes up above 71%.

What good is this DVR if I can only use 1/3 of the recording space?

Have you tried rebooting the unit?

This will clear the buffer, but not the drive contents. Many have found this to resolve the same issues.

Try pressing the reset button behind th small front little "door" on the front of the unit (directly next to where the Access Card is located).

The reset process will take about 6 minutes or so in total.

Let everyone here know if this corrects your symptoms.

My first post-upgrade problem ever :( - No audio on any SD programming (including commercials) on NBC (WRC 4). It doesn't matter if it's live or recorded, and yes, I've rebooted (several times).

I have performed the famous RBR to no avail. I have even unplugged the unit for a period of time... that never worked either.

Interestingly enough, a plethora of programming recorded Monday night, which only left 65% on the HD. It didn't seem to mind last night, and played just fine. However, tonight will probably be a different story.

Ok since the recent update, there is one thing happening that wasn't happening before. It hasn't happened but twice, so I can't say it was the update. I have come home and found that my unit didn't respond to the remote's ON command, nor the power button on the front of the unit. Unplug/Replug worked. I'm hoping this resolvable via downloads and not a faulty unit. I'm guessin' the latest update is causing this. I hope so, actually.

My HR20-700 has had same issue twice in last 5 days. I thought it might be that I scheduled recordings from computer but now I'm suspecting last update. Has anyone had this issue after doing dvr scheduler? I'm concerned because unit has been perfect until last week.

Except for a little bit of quirks at the start of the downlowd, mine has been fine ever since. I do notice the guide is much quicker than before. I just keep praying that everything stays on kilter.

My HR21-200 exhibited some "interesting" behavior today.

I was out on an errand and returned just in time to prevent the misses from throwing the Harmony One across the room. TV would power on, but the PVR wouldn't. Unplugged, waited 10 seconds & then reapplied power to get it back up again.

One last option might be to go into the setup menu and do a receiver reset via the menu, and see how that works for you....

    System installed 12/07 (1) HD-21 & (2) HD-12 Receivers. The HD-21 has two ethernet ports which I believe makes it a -200.

Over the past month, when recordings are played back, the show is in progress about 60 - 90 seconds. This is not limited to one channel or show.

DirecTV wants to reformat the hard drive. Don't see how this will fix the problem and removing all the recordings not watched will be a pain. Seems like this is a problem with the clock internal to the HD-21 (if there is one).

Does anyone know how the clock on the receiver works?

I am confident that someone else has had a similar problem with this receiver.

HR21-200. After almost no problems with the last release, and only a reset after 0x022B to get things going, I started getting slow and then no reponse from the remote while doing the 30 second skip while playing back a recorded show last week. Response came back for a minute, and then went totally out for 15+ as I was watched the rest of the recorded show.

I had 2 shows recording in the background, so I didn't want to do a reset. I tried pressing the menu and guide buttons on the HR21-200 box and got a response going back and forth between them. When I tried the remote again, I got a response and haven't had a problem since then.

Is there a difference between the hr21P-200 (professional unit) and the references this thread makes to the HR21-200; or are they the same unit.
