I recorded the same show on my HR20 and the same thing happened. Has to be related to the temporary nature of the showings, as it still happens every so often on these sneak peaks.

Same here on HR21 and HR20...

Not to mention the recording wasn't even the NGC Sneak Peak, it was baseball highlights.

    Middle...
I was watching an episode of King of the Hill recorded from FX earlier today (I think) and in the middle of playback I got a picture freeze. I could exit the recording and appear to FF past the frozen spot (progress bar moved) but nothing changed on screen and no audio. When I extited the recording and re-selected it to play, it began from the beginning rather than 9 or 10 minutes in (where I had been at the freeze) and there was nothing but a grey screen. At that point the unit became non-responsive to GUI or front panel and I was forced to RBR. Currently it appears to be re-starting normally (on Step 2 of 2).

I set up the HR21 today, and I have no HD locals. Actually, when I first set it up, I had no locals at all. So I went to the DirecTV site and re-sent the authorizations. After a minute, the locals showed up in SD only, not HD. I have resent authorization 4 times, still no HD locals. Time for a reset?

P.S. Otherwise it is really nice and much better looking than the HR20!

Make sure you got it setup for a 5lnb dish. Mine was setup for 3lnb when I got it.

Mine was set for 3 LNB also. I didn't have any locals until I enabled the 5 LNB and re-hit the box from the web site.

    PF -

I've seen this on my HR-20 a few times. I think if the HR-20 (or 21) tunes to the channel before the feed starts that happens.

I decided to do a reset everything on mine after first start where I did a quick confirmation that the hdmi connection worked. The reset hung and I had to hit the red button, but completed the setup and things look good. I have run into a few issues and will post later, right now I have to cut the grass before the yard turns into a jungle...... Why can't my HR20 or HR21 cut my grass, what a POS :D

The video stream lockup that I reported this morning is back. Picture freezes and audio quits after a couple of minutes. All menus work correctly and you can change channels, either through the guide or direct entry. Once the channel changes, the new video stream is active with good audio. The seems to be independent oof any particualr type of channel.

    update;
I just did a little testing by putting the info banner on the screen. When the video stream stops, the time of day still keeps updating. This says that the problem lies somewhere in the input decode circuitry or firmware and the output display portion is still functional. Once this starts to happen , it happens in less than 30 seconds after changing channels.

The blue ring won't adjust settings after the first dimming. It also turns off if you try to adjust it after dimming it, but will come back on if you play a recording - it flashes bright first, then dims. Also goes bright when spinning for trick play and then flashes bright on the full circle upon completion before going dim. Bright isn't that bad actually.

I also see what y'all mean about media share in this version - don't like the mini menu access. Now for the issue - when I played a song and used exit to stop, it returned to live TV sound, but the progress bar flashed back up briefly for the song and the song kept playing with the TV sound. Did not happen if I pressed stop to end the song. Can't wait for 17E or better on this for media share.

    Update #2

I have 4 recordings of " Holmes on Homes" each of these is 30 minutes in length. Two were recorded last night at 11:00 PM and 11:30PM. The other two were recorded today at 3:00PM and 3:30 PM. All 4 appear to have recorded as shown in the list. Whe you try to play them, they are all black screen. They all display the orange timeline for 30 minutes. The first of each pair show the current time at zero and it will not advance with fast forward, etc. The second of the pair shows the time at -29 minutes and will also not play or fast forward.

Just an FYI ,this box is on an UPS along withe HR20. Both are on the same cable to port 1 of the SWM5. I have not seen any pixelization or other artifacts. Just lock ups or blank recordings.

Well, the active channel had the weather set for my zip, but it still loses the background when exiting from lotto or weather to the main screen

ISSUE: I guess now that I've confirmed my HDMI port is fine I can add my "No Blue" over HDMI on my Toshiba 57H94 as an issue with x168.

Your router may be able to give you a list of MAC addresses that are connected. My Linksys does. Just a thought. /s

EDIT: Hadn't see Bob's post before I posted this. Great minds think alike! :)

Thanks, Steve. Looks like a case of either fat finger or the MAC on the screen changed. It's all better now. Let it assign itself via DHCP finally and I got the MAC from the DHCP log. I re-entered the MAC in my filter, enabled filtering and all is well in the world.

Locked it up while watching a SD local with Entourage recording on HBOHD when I tried to access the info screen while holding the info button on the remote. Unit switched like it was going to process the request - Picture went into the preview window and the blue/white menu background appeared, but nothing else. Nonresponsive to remote and panel commands, had to RBR.

ISSUE: Audio dropouts on MPEG4 YES-HD Channel 62 when watching caught up to live in the buffer. I have to hit instant replay at least once to back up a bit, and then there's no audio drop-out.
