Issue: Non First Run Programs Appear in the To Do List when only First Run was specified.

What I Did: Performed a search (last night) to find various programs to create series links; first run only. I created the series links for first run only. Today, the To Do list includes programs that are NOT first runs. I can't tell whether all showings are listed; since my guide is not fully populated.

I'm thinking that since these reruns are not in my playlist; the HR21 considers them first runs.

Even the HR20's do this. When you setup a Series Link it will record the first episode it finds regardless of it being first run or not.

I thought that might be the case; just wasn't sure. It's been a long time since I activated the HR20 (Sept. 2006).

    Thanks for the info.

No audio when using media share with HDMI connection. This happens when the 21 is connected to either the Sony DG810 surround reciever or Oleiva 532H with HDMI. Optical works just fine.

My HR20 works with HDMI in all configurations without issue.

ISSUE: When changing channels from HD [Mpeg2] to SD the audio lags behind. Meaning the banner already shows the SD channel info and my TV is already flickering to change resolutions before the audio from the HD channel stops.

ISSUE: When coming back to the HD [Mpeg2] channel from SD the audio does not come in for about 6 to 10 seconds.

ISSUE: Approximately 3 hours into a 4.5 hour recording [HD Mpeg2] the record LED turned off. Recording continued however. I went into the playlist and started to play the recording and the record LED came back on.

ISSUE: Tuned to Nashville MPEG4 ABC local WKRN at 7:00 p.m. CDT and got a gray screen only with no audio. After about 10 seconds, brought up the Guide and selected a different MPEG4 local (WSMV) and the picture and audio were normal after tuning in. Tuned back to WKRN and the things were back to normal. Worth noting for this issue that I am currently connected via HDMI and Native is ON.

Black screen on a recording of Masters of Science Fiction recorded 8/4 @ 2200 Eastern on WEWS 5 in Cleveland. This is an Mpeg 4 channel.

It takes a full minute @ 4x FFWD to get to the 0:02 mark in the recording. Still black screen.

Duplicate recording on a HR20-700 is fine.

Bring on a 0x184, 0x168 has more bugs than a house in the hood. :hurah:

I exited from the playlist and got a grey screen. I pressed the guide button and got a blank guide with "please wait" superimposed. Aftet 15 minutes, I decided to RBR and all was well.

Not sure if this is an channel problem or the HR21. I was watching the end of the race today on ESPN HD 73 and had bad audio breakups when listening to it through DD with optical output. Worked fine with RCA cable directly to the tv.

I'm seeing the "lnb output" test fail on mine also - connected via WB68. On my HR20's, my newer unit passes consistently and my older unit fails 2/3 of the time.

Oh, so far so good on pressing the info button on the remote to accesse the info screen since I redid the Sat Setup a second time.

Nah ... The first time I saw superbuffer on the HR20, I forwarded through the entire buffer (about 16 hours), but I was bored fast forwarding after a few minutes, so I just hit channel-up and channel-down to return to the channel.

Issue: Recordings Result in Frozen Picture with audio.

What Happened: Both tuners were in use; one recording MPEG4 one recording SD. When I tried to view one of the recordings; about 2 seconds played....the picture froze and the audio continued. This happened on every recording tonight; with different results. Once I was able to FF beyond the problem then RW to the beginning and was able to watch the entire program. Other recordings; when I FF; the picture would freeze when I hit play and the audio continued.

Remedy: After a menu reset all recordings played for 2 or 3 seconds; then froze but i was able to FF and view the entire recording.

Strange scenerios...this never happened to me with the HR20.

This is the 3rd menu reset I needed to perform today.

UPDATE: First new recording after reset has same problem. Recording starts with no sound....must FF a minute or so....hit play...then it plays ok.

UPDATE 2: I've been trying to figure out what is causing this and narrowed it down to this. Here is what I did:

I began recording ABC MPEG 4 on tuner 1. Then began recording NBC MPEG 4 on tuner 2. I let them record for about 30 minutes. While viewing tuner 2 live, I selected the recording from tuner 1 ABC) and it started and froze....then hit RW and Play....and it played. I then selected the recording on tuner 2 (NBC) while viewing tuner 2 (NBC) and the recording played perfectly. I then changed channels to tuner 1 (ABC) then selected from the list the recording of the ABC program; and it played perfectly from the start. I stayed live on tuner 1 (ABC) and selected the recording from NBC (tuner2) and it started and froze.

Seems to me, if you are currently watching tuner 1 and select a recording that was recorded using tuner 1; it will play fine. Conversely, if you are currently watching tuner 2 and select a recording that was recorded on tuner 1; the recording will start then freeze.

Issue: Guide Is Not Being Saved After Reset.

What Happened: I checked the guide this morning; after doing my initial setup last night and the guide wasn't fully populated yet. There were about 4 days of guide at this point. I know it can take 24 hours for the full guide to populate. I needed to do a reset about an hour ago; and realized that the guide wasn't populated past 36 hrs. Seems the guide was not cached during reset.

Yeah ESPNHD was breaking up pretty bad all day. I tried it on my HR20 as well with the same results.

Woke up this morning to a black screen. Unit was responsive to the remote and all the menus & info bars displayed, but no TV picture or sound (recordings didn't play either - just displayed info and progress bars upon start). It was left on a local mpeg-4 station (WWL, ch 4) over night.

    Menu reset solved the problem.

Checked Guide in light of Vinny's post and my guide cache survived the reset - it goes out to about 6pm 8/17 (11 to 12 days out has been my typical experience with the HR20 guide when fully populated).

ISSUE: Changing channels from local MPEG4 NBC local (WSMV) to ESPN HD resulted in a black screen and unresponsive box. No signal via HDMI or component (both hooked up in parallel). Front panel lights are on and live audio continues through DD and my Yamaha a/v receiver. About to do an RBR.

Issue: Info Screen changed channels from live to a recorded program.

What Happened: Was watching live TV on MPEG4 local. Prior to that, I checked a previoulsy recorded program then went back to live. While watching live, I hit menu/setup.....the system setup screen came up....the PIP changed from the live program to a frozen picture of the recorded show I just checked. I hit exit and went full screen to the frozen recording. I then hit exit and went back to the live show.
