This is an odd twist to the killer trickplay delay with OTA....

I'm watching the Terminator (Dallas, 4-1) and normally the trick play lags for a while. I pulled it up from my playlist because we were a few minutes into the show. Trickplay is working fine.

I'm wondering if watching a recording while it's actually recording is working better with trickplay than something that has finished recording. Guys seeing the same issues, can you try this as well?

That's in line with my findings, Tfed. I haven't had time to do any testing on recordings watched after the recording is completed, but watching behind the active recording worked quite well for me.

New issue: when I turned on my office TV this evening, the screen saver was up, and needed a channel change to restore picture. I've never seen this before on the HR21.
The unit stays "on" all the time, never put in standby, BTW.
A minor issue, but an issue just the same....

OK, I determined that I had an antenna problem - my Silver Sensor's connection had come loose and separated from the internal wiring. I've replaced the antenna and am now using a GE Futura TV24746 antenna.

Didn't quite phrase this part right last night, so here goes again - The AM21/HR21 combo seems to be more sensitive to problematic signals than my TV tuner - not sure why, but the TV tuner seems to be able to better process the "hinky" signal without as many glitches. Also, the problems are more noticeable with dolby on.

I had another freeze up today. I got to the end of the recording and it asked if I wanted to keep or delete and it froze there for more than a minute until it would accept any commands.

 I am sitting down to watch Blues in HD tonight on 647-1 and nothing is there. I went to my HR20-700 and that receiver gets it. So, I did a RBR to see if that would fix the problem and that didn't work. Grrrrrr!!!!!!! Trying to refresh receiver on line and that didn't work.

Not much to complain about here. Only issue I've had thus far is the OTA levels maxing out at %77.

I am experiencing an issue with OTA recordings containing cuts to black. So far, I've only tried this on one channel, my local CBS. I've experienced it twice so far, and it doesn't happen OTA on the HR20, so it's definitely related to the AM21. When there is an instant cut to black in the program, some parts of the previous frame will flash on the screen until something else comes up. If parts of the screen stay black for a while, there will be some junk blocks that appear.

I have taken a video of this phenomenon to help everyone understand what I'm talking about. Please excuse the piss poor quality, I had to use my cell phone. The breakups in the picture are just due to the poor quality of my cell phone's camera, and are not in the actual recording on the HR21. When the screen goes black, the flashing parts on the right side ARE in the recording, and are what I'm talking about. When the Junction screen comes up, the black that you see is not part of the recording. At that point, I do a Replay to show that part of the Junction screen stays up momentarily in the black parts of the picture. It's like there is no video data in parts of the black.

Hopefully my explaination and video are clear enough in explaining the problem!

Another recording failure to report. At 10pm, I was recording a 1-hour show OTA, with a 30-minute show set to record at 10:00 and 10:30, both on A&EHD. The OTA recording was fine, and so was the 10:00 show on A&E. But the 10:30 show failed, with the following message in the History:

This episode was not recorded because the program was no longer available. (13/3/Parking Wars expected cid: 1 1 F75BF 13 found cid: 1 1 F75BF D expected PO ID: 4448666 found PO ID: 4453374)

Edit: I didn't notice this before, but the History lists both the failed and successful recordings to be at 10:30. It turns out that the 10:30 recording was actually the one that recorded, and the 10:00 one failed.

Was watching OTA and left the room for a bit. When I came back, the audio was still playing for live TV but the image had frozen sometime ago. Channel changes restored live video.

When I came home today I noticed the death-ray spinning on my HR21...when I turned the TV on I have no video. I let it stay like that for about 15 mins. When I rebooted it was hanging on look for sat. I looked the dish, it was covered in snow and ice. Not sure why the box rebooted.

Had to reboot the box around 10 cst because the image froze while tuned to an OTA channel (8-1) - audio was continuing live - and when I tried to tune the mpeg-4 version (8) all I got was a blank screen. I could tune other channels, just not 8.

Set to record a program from 10-11 on 8-1 and put in standby. Ran errands, came back 2 hours later and the HR21 would not respond to the remote or front panel buttons, just sat there with no lights on - unplugged to reboot. The recording is fine.

One thing that I have noticed with the audio dropouts on the AM21 is that is seems to happen on the stations that are pegged out at 77% on the signal meter. It doesn't seem to happen on the stations that are less than 77%.

I never really looked at that, but now that you mention it....

Anyway, I still get little audio glitches without any sign of signal interference. This is a very frustrating software version for me.

That was just my observations from last night. The audio dropouts have been getting real bad and I was trying see why. That is just something I noticed. It has been happening on my Fox, CBS, NBC, and ABC (St. Louis) stations and all of those are pegged out at 77% on the signal meter. But, my CW (ST. Louis) and stations south of me I am not getting the audio dropouts. I just get the video pictualtion and breakups from low signal and those stations are anywhere from 43% to 72% on the signal meter.

I am not sure if this is the correct place to post this. But, on my Channel 11 the new local HD channel for KPLR CW. I get audio dropouts and picture freezes several times per hour. Since, this is a new local HD channel I don't know if it is there feed, the sat or my receiver.
