not sure if this is the proper place to post this, if not mods could you please move it.

Im trying to hook my hr21 receiver to the internet but it wont connect. I have rebooted, pulled the card and still nothing.

I keep getting result code 86-746, I know the internet works because the same cable connects to my laptop no problem

How are you trying to connect the HR21 to the internet? the HR21 does not have built in WiFi...

    Do you have Whole-Home DVR?

I have seen cases where a cable works for a laptop but not DVR. of course, is your choice....

an HR21 is a DVR. so you have a H21, correct?

there is really very little to gain by connecting an HD box to the inter webs. if you want VOD, you need a DVR.

I have ad this box since 2008...the sticker on it is hr21..I was under the impression that it is not a dvr, if so I stand corrected.

An HR21 was two ethernet ports on it. Which are you using? Try the other.

I had the HR22 before and when I connected the ethernet cable, I used the top part I believe, since it does have 2 ports also

That makes it a H21 - It has NO HARD DISK so it will not connect to the internet. as it has no place to store (or download) content

Well, an HD receiver can connect to the internet, there is no real benefit tho. Only benefit is TV Apps, and ordering PPV via remote.
