Hi, we just had a massive storm here and were without power for over a week. Since the power has come back on I haven't been able to get one of my receivers, an HR22-100 to boot up past the Step 1 of 2 Checking Satellite connection. It will just hang there forever. All my other receivers work fine. I've already tried everything I can think of and nothing seems to work. I have alot of DVR programming I don't want to lose. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Damn near 24 hours since you posted and no answers. Here's what I'd do: Call D* and get the 22 replaced. That's a terrible DVR. Yes, you are gonna lose the content but almost everything can be found online. If you have rebooted the 22 and the same thing happens there's not much you can do.

Thanks for the reply. I tried the receiver in another room with a working receiver and same thing. Doing some research online I went into the advanced diagnostic menu and ran every test there was and everything passed so that's kind of weird but you're probably right about just getting a new receiver. I wish I could remember what I had on that DVR lol.

I would try to run it without coax connection, I recall a few members here still watching recordings after canceled its service and did cut the coax

If you can't remember what you had, you won't regret losing it. :)

Those diagnostic tests will tell you if a drive has expired. They won't tell you if an HDD has degraded to the point where it affects an HR as yours is affected. This isn't "weird", it's normal.

You've done everything you could have, make the call before you drive yourself nuts. Good troubleshooting!

Called Directv and they are replacing it. She said they are sending me another HR22-100. Do they really still send out that piece of junk instead of something newer?

    You won’t get a 22, you’ll get a HR24 refurb, likely a -500. That’s what I just got with my PP upgrade a couple months ago.

If you lost POWER--and you did not have it on an UPS --Then a Power spike has taken it out! -- as suggested --go through the pain and CALL the MAN --get a replacement

I hope you're right. The CSR swore up and down I would only get the exact same model.

    I highly doubt that.
Most that are sent out is H24 and HR24. You can tell on the box before you even open it ( at least mine had a label and it had the model number on the outside of the box).

They have to say something. No matter how much he swore you are gonna get a 24...I hope.

I'll believe that the moment you come back and tell us you have a refurbed 22-100 in your hands.

You were right, got a HR24-200. Looks like they don't even want the old receiver back. I'm kind of disappointed they didn't send a new remote since only 2 of my 4 remotes still work. Will Directv replace broken remotes too?

If you have the protection plan, they replace and send remotes for free. Replacement receivers never come with remotes, only the power cable. You can recycle the HR22. DIRECTV doesn’t recover 20’s, 21’s, 22’s, 23’s, 24-100’s, or 34’s anymore. You’ll be happy with a 24 compared to the 22.
