    Window of opportunity to download:
    Friday, September 5, 2008 11:00PM - 2:30AM ET
    Saturday, September 6, 2008 11:00PM - 2:30AM ET

Be sure to monitor the threads and The DBSTalk Chat Room to check on final availability.

You will need to force the update tonight, but DO NOT under any circumstances allow a version less that 0x25E to be loaded onto your receiver. If you force the download at the wrong time, then you will be getting the "old" (NR) HR21-700 firmware which is 0x255.

When the download screen appears, wait for "Found New Software" .. once you see this and the download bar is moving, look at the version number. If the version number is NOT 0x25E or higher, then press the Red Button immediately. If you download a lower version number, you *WILL* brick your box (not permanently but it will be bricked for now).
In order to participate, you must read and agree to the CE Rules, Faq and Tips Thread... here.

Downloading pre-release software means that we all work together to report bugs and potential solutions. While everyone gets upset from time to time, please remember this is not the appropriate place for vents or rants. Therefore, please keep all posts in this thread to issues only. You may, of course, open a discussion thread for other discussion, constructive criticism, and problem solving, but this thread is monitored by DIRECTV for bug reporting only. All off-topic posts and discussion will be deleted.

We ask that you keep polite and focused within this thread, and post as much detail as possible. If your receiver is set up for network issue reporting, please post the key generated by the receiver (For more information, click here.) Please continue to submit all examples of black or gray recordings here.

This probalby belongs in the WGA wirelesss adapter forum, but since I'm connected to the HR23, I've decided to post it here and hope it gets to the right engineering team.

I can playback on my PC the Smithsonian channel HD VODs and HD direct downloads with a direct hard wired connection and have no problems. Whenever I try to play back via the wireless adapter(Linksys WGA600n), the picture and audio stops and starts continuonsly. The picture is un-watchable. My wireless adapter is a Linksys WAP 4400N and it is configured for 802.11n with WPA2 personal. Speed is set to auto. When viewing the stats, I see both revceive and transmit errors at eh WGA side. My WGA is 15 feet from the WPA and has one interior sheetrock wall to go through. I disd temporarily put the WGA on my HR20 and played back a standard def recordings with no problem. It's just high def recordings that fail.

    Online report #: 20080906-39F3

Issue: Prioritzer Not Listing All Episodes of Upcoming Programs.

What Happens: There is a series link for Entourage HBOHD 501. The first episode of this season will air Sunday 9/7/09. This series link was set up about a week ago. The To Do List; shows it will record the Sunday 9/7 airing. The guide shows the Series Link "R" for the 9/7 showing. The Prioritizer shows only 1 program as upcoming; 9/14/07. When I select the 9/7 showing from the To Do List; after the details of the show in a light blue font is says: This episode is set to record at 10:00pm Sun, 9/7. When I display the same screen for the 9/14 episode it says: "This episode is set to record at 10:00pm Sun, 9/14. All first run episodes are set to record".

It's as if the 9/7 episode isn't part of the series link; but it does show with the overlayed R; not just the normal R for a non series link recording.

I'm still unable to send reports with the CE.

when i turn the unit on out of standby i have no sound. it doesn't matter which channel i'm on. i still get the same results.
a simple channel change fixes the issue.

OTA recordings trick play is still very slowwww and picture/sound freezes if i select the progress bar.
    NONE. Please correct this.

    Report 20080907-2EEB

24 hours later no widgets; no daily fortune; failed network services Lost fortune during last CE; but had widgets and failed Net Servcs.

This CE (tonight) setup Manual port forwarding (27177 & 27188) and got daily fortune back and network services passed. Still no widgets...

Response to Harmony remote (H659) is slow (last 2 CE's).

Video playback via MediaShare is choppy. Used to be nice and smooth... could be new version of Tversity; don't know... but I wish it was as good as it used to be. Choppiness makes watching impossible.

This is probably related to my previous report but I submitted another report.

Sometimes when FF or RW it doesn't respond to the Play button. I press it several times to get it respond.

I can see the power light flicker but it just doesn't respond.

This causes me to overshoot quite a bit.

Issue: Still unable to access sub menu's under music via WMP. Also cannot access Playlists or photos. Attempts to do so result in the unable to access media. I am considering disabling sharing in WMP and just going with TVersity for everything.

No Widgets Coming Soon either. I had it in prior releases.

I d/l the latest software on Friday night; and if I'm not mistaken; I had it on Saturday as well.

    Still finding response time sluggish.

Reported in the main CE Issues thread as an HR21-700, but is actually the HR23-700.:D

Just took a Pele' style kick to the groin! My wife was watching a HBO/Cinemax freeview of "What Lies Beneath". The receiver popped the "receiver needs to change...." warning and she pressed "don't change" button. I personally saw her do this, so I can vouch for the authenticity. Just as the movie reached the climax, it switched over to the program that the receiver had warned about. Weird thing about it is, it's not recording the show. It cancelled the recording, but still changed channels. And the really bad thing about it is, she was watching the movie slightly delayed, so by the time we hit the previous channel button the movie was over and another movie was on. I think she's gonna kill me.....

While FW the picture momentarily freezes and then jumps ahead as if is actually still FW but the picutre isn't.

Most of the time it isn't a problems and I press play and go on my way.

However, it occasionally will happen at the end of a commercial set and next thing you know I'm a minute or so into the show.

I find that when I press play as it's in one of those freezes, the audio comes back first and the picture returns a second or two later.

Last week I couldn't get a SL for X-Files to record on SciFi-HD.

I set up the SL to record the 4pm episode M-F and have it set for "Both".

It is now recording the 4pm episode and also all the other episodes the SciFi airs such as the 2am episode this morning.

Not sure if this is actually an issue but since the 4pm weekday episodes follow a progession through the series and the over nights tend to be random I can't seem to get it to record only the time slot I want.

Issue: Lost Audio While Watching Live TV

What Happened: Was watching a recording from my playlist (while it was still recording) on Showtime 2 Channel 538HD. I fell asleep; when I woke up hours later; I was on live TV with no audio.

Resolution: A channel change resolved the issue.

I'm sorry for the lack of details; since I was sleeping I don't know when I lost audio. I'm going to assume it was after the recording was finished and the HR23 returned to the live TV tuner which wasn't tuned to Showtime2HD.
