Was watching as normal last night and out of nowhere, the HR23 started showing the infamous 771 on tuner 2 error. Changed channel and then back, the error disappeared. Forgot tot capture the report last night, but did get one this morning after the the lockups.

    Report # 20081006-3A8A.

While watching normal broadcasts on the Discovery channels , when a program ends, the next one stars up immediately, but after a coulpe of seconds, the screen goers blank with no audio, then the show resumes as normal. It's almost as if the HR changes tuners and looses everything for a second or two. No recordings are in process and none scheduled.

Lockups are occurring across many receiver types .. This is not an issue with the HR23-700, so you do not need to report it here any longer ..

Please continue to report problems if they are not related to the lockups of today.

    Edit for additional Information:

I did not think that my network was at issue with this problem but I have since discovered that the problem was coming from my recently added Vonage Box. I manually configured for the HR boxes and Network Services was restored.

My HR23 just did a reboot all by itself & so did my HR20.
I'll put in the report number after I send it.

Oh & bravo on the timing!
It messed up the end of 1 recording & the start of 3 recordings!

Still unable to access sub menu's under Music, via WMP. Trying to do so results in an unable to access media error. No report as of yet, will try to get one and attach later. Sorry. Not feeling too well today.

As with the others, my HR23 rebooted just before 7 pm. All is fine now...

I don't think this is related to the across the board HR2X freeze from today/tonight so I thought I'd post the details. I was watching a movie last night but got too tired to watch the end, so I hit the Record button and went to bed. The message about recording the active show came up and I ok'd. When the TV was turned on tonight, the red "recording" light was on... I figured I forgot that something was supposed to record, but it turned out that the "movie" that I was watching last night was still recording, showing a record time of 17 hours and 15 minutes. When I attempted to stop/delete the recording the HR23 froze up and required a RBR. The reboot seemed to take an unusually long time and it also had a message that the "receiver is performing a self test." I've seen that message on my HR20, but not on the HR23... And only once or twice.

    Will post report # shortly.

+1. My wife and mother-in-law were watching Oprah on KCRA. They reported that the box rebooted itself.

My wife went back into her office and our HR21-200 also rebooted itself as well, same time, same bat channel. My HR20-700 also rebooted today although I can not confirm the time.

When trying to delete a watched program using FF to get there ASAP, it is taking 10-30 seconds for the show to get to the "delete now" choice. Seems to help if I press the Play button, but that may be my imagination.

I have a series link set to record "How its Made" I have first runs only and keep at most 5. When I checked my to do list, I had 6 recordings and one of them was a duplicate. It should have never recorded the 6th show, let alone a duplicate.

Add both of my HR2x to the list of re-boots. I came home and they were both "looking" at me with those big, blue eyes. ;) I know I had shut them both down prior to leaving this morning.

Watching Ch 355 (CNBCHD). The channel now has the secondary audio option. (THANK YOU, very nice feature on CNBCHD!).

When switching between the audio channels (green button), sometimes (50% or more) the new audio channel selected (either 1->2 or 2->1) does not play. Either on live TV or recorded. FF, RW, SLIP30, Skip Back, etc does sometimes fix the problem. Then the audio if fine and you can then trickplay as normal with audio.

I have not been able to confirm this issue being isolated to the HR23 but posting here since I saw it on the HR23. I can test it on a show with dual audio tomorrow on my HR20 to see if it is an HR2x issue.

You can ignore the copied thread. I found I had two different series links from different channels. The HR23 did as it was told.

    Report #20081007-1159

"Searching for signal ..771" over a movie that was showing just fine. 544, TMCeast, Dead Birds, around 10PM. Clicking away and back cured it, but it did not go away by itself, I gave it 10 minutes.

I saw your post which reminded me that I wanted to post this (don't know if it is related):

Last evening while watching live tv an "HR2x blue info box" flashed on my screen several times over approx 30 sec. time period. The flashing was so fast that I could not see what the box said (a 771 screen, keep/delete, etc) but the show was playing fine in the middle of the show.

(NOTE: All my testing was on Ch 355.)

Okay, I did some additional testing and:
    1) This appears to be an HR23 issue since I could not repeat it on two different HR20's and could easily repeat it on the HR23.
    2) The issue seems to be related to where you are in the buffer. Watching live TV and at the end of the buffer, switching audio is fine. If you jump back into the buffer (say 15 minutes back) changing audio does not work most of the time until you trick play. Playing back a recorded show anywhere in the timeline experiences this issue.
    3) There are times that if you switch audio and wait a few seconds (3-5) a "blip" of the audio will be heard then no audio until trickplay.
    4) Sometimes after the "blip" the picture will freeze up totally. A trick play will return to normal video and audio. This happens fairly often.
    5) Sometimes if you wait long enough (30+ sec) the audio comes back.

    K.O.D. Issue Report #: 20081008-3184

I had watched a recorded program and had gotten to the end. I pushed the 30s SLIP x2 to get to the KOD screen and the program just froze once it reached the end of the recording. There was no KOD screen. When I finally pressed the PLAY button, the KOD appeared and I was able to delete the program.

FYI - Not HR23 specific. Happens on both of my units about 1/3 of the time if I 30SLIP to the end of recording. It has been on the "Long Term Bug List" for a long time.

I've seen general sluggishness the last few days compared to HR21-200.
