Others have posted their experience with SSDs in an HR24. For rather lengthy reasons I ended up trying to use an SSD on an HR23. I used the thermaltake docking station I had previously used with an HDD and after several tries got the HR23 to boot up with a 1 TB SSD as its hard drive. The DVR is amazingly faster with the SSD in it. It is essentially running as fast as my HR24 did with a WD Blue 1TB HDD.

What is interesting is that the one time it is still slow is trying to show the playlist when two shows are recording. That can take 30 to 45 seconds and then another 10 seconds for a recording to start. But if only one show is recording, or nothing is, it is as fast as the 24.

So those who have an old HR23 sitting around, an SSD may make a worthwhile investment.

It's a worthwhile investment for any HR. I have SSDs on all my HRs. I can't imagine going back to HDDs.
