    I believe you're right. I hadn't noticed before, but there are actually 3 similar posts in a row over in that thread, pertaining to 3 different HR models:

    "Grey" vs "Black" screen could possibly be related to the user's HDTV "Bar Color" setting.

    You know Steve, I had my HR22-100 do it one time with last weeks ce coming out of standby when I was tuned to 202, CNN.

    I'm in the middle of a 9-day work-travel junket...but have twice used my Slingbox to check on the HR24-100. It has not rebooted, not locked up, and continued to record the things scheduled. I watched one item late yesterday.


    I left the unit turned on, in the event of a push...but in my absense, all appears to be basically stable. With 15 hour days...not much time to test more - hopefully an update is there the end of the week (I'll be back Friday - messied the chatroom and the "gang" there this past weekend).

    Yeah... So, far it has only happened to one of my HR22-100's. I have 2 of them. Then I couldn't get it to send a dang report. :mad: :lol: But, I am hoping it was just an internet issue. I have not seen it on my HR24 yet.

    I hooked up my AM21 to the HR24-100 and I have noticed a very small slowdown, I am glad that I hooked it up to the 24 because it is still so much faster than when it was hooked up to my HR22-100.

    I still cannot seem to make the HR24-100 last more than a day without having to reboot because of problems with audio drops and pausing when using trickplay.

    Looking forward to the next push.

    Is anyone able to access Dougs Firmware app while using WIDGETTESTMON? I cannot.

    Steve, you can add the HR 23-700 to the list having the "black screen no audio" issue. Been seeing it on my HR23 for the last couple of weeks, really bad this week so far.

    Don't know where else to post this: Does anyone with the HR24 remember if there were a lot of video dropouts, along with the audio dropping out when they were still using the original software?

    This HR24 is on the original software that came with the box and a handful of times an hour maybe, at worst, when I'm watching a recorded show especially, the picture will break up and I'll lose audio at the same time. If I hit six second rewind it doesn't seem to do it in the same place again.

    Signal strengths good and no inclement weather in the area at the time of the recordings. So far this is the only issue I've noticed.

    PS. I've run system test on a few different days and it always comes out, everything ok.

    I definitely remember video dropouts. Not so sure about audio.

    I had all kinds of audio/video issues on the original software. Not exactly in the same way as your description though.

    I'd turn the unit on, and there would be no audio. A restart would solve the problem.

    I'd be RW'ing or FF'ing, and hit play, and sometimes the video would freeze. I'd RW or FF and it would play fine for a split second before freezing up again. After a minute, if I didn't restart it, it would lock up.

    I'd be RW'ing or FF'ing and the audio would go out. After a minute, if I didn't restart it, and proceeded to perform other functions, it would lock up.

    Sadly, mine is still doing this! :( Had it happen to me twice last night! :(

    Haven't seen a "black screen" yet on any of my other boxes... four HR20-700's, an HR20-100, an H24-700 and an R22-200, all on the latest CE. Based on all the other reports, tho, I'm sure it's only a matter of time before it happens. :)

    The few times I've seen it on the HR24, REPLAY gets me out of it. Maybe that's why I haven't had to reboot that box since the last CE push.

    Thanks, it's the video dropouts I most notice. Thinking about it now not sure the audio drops out same time, the breaking up video is so distracting guess I don't even notice what the audio is doing at that moment.

    Thank you for the reply. Mine isn't doing that when I turn the unit on but again I'm still using the original software. Kind of nervous about the first push of new software. The last box went bonkers after a software upgrade (actually it was after the second software upgrade that it flaked out) so I'll be keeping my fingers crossed when this one gets one.

    Was kind of relieved to see the other reports you quoted of the black screen because I was wondering if it was CE related or the problem with my Sony. I got my first Sony this past summer and it came complete with a bad main board. The TV would just shut itself off randomly, then lately it's started suddenly losing the audio, then the TV shuts off then instantly comes right back on.

    That's the TV the HR23 is hooked up to so wasn't sure what was the CE what was the Sony. Fortunately since the Sony was bad out of the box Sony is picking up the tab for the repair and the main board will be replaced on Thu.

    The repair guy told me last week that this was a rare problem for Sony, like less then two percent of their TV's ever experience this problem. I told him if it's gonna happen it will happen for me. My track record with getting bad electronics is astounding. It's kind of a joke in my family that if anyone is going to have a problem with a piece of electronic equipment they get it will be me. :rolleyes:

    I don't know about black, but my HR22 started on Saturday, I had not yet gotten this weeks ce, with a mauve colour screen. Never seen anything like this, :confused: I posted a report in the ce issues thread. I checked out the HDMI and the TV first and neither were causing an issue. Did a menu reset to clear it up.

    I may get to see my house now that school is almost out. What a week! My poor little H24 hasn't been turned on until today since last Saturday... Hopefully I can find some more bugs and get back into things here at home a little bit

    Mine has been doing all of those things since the original software.

    Interestingly enough, my HR24-100 has displayed a mauve tinted GUI as well. There's been several times when it would lock up (as previously mentioned) and I'd leave it there to see if it would eventually work itself out. I'd be watching the HR23-700, and switch back to the HR24-100 only to find the mauve screen.

    Did your mauve screen occur during live TV, or paused TV, or ????

    Alan, the mauve screen occurred when coming out of standby.
