Curious, is there a chance for a code push in the meantime?

Anything is possible. You should presume that you guys are not the only group testing these receivers.

At this point, feel free to use the current HR24s until you receive the new ones, or box them up now with no guilt if you would rather do that.

Exactly! Actually I did become a first-time grandpa last September, thanks to my daughter-in-law and son. And my daughter's expecting in June. Fun stuff! :)

Same here, but I was continuing to record on the eSATA for that future time when it was fixed.

Maybe they are sending the Deca with the new ones.

Oh and a spare remote would be nice too. (but unnecessary.)

All I need is their return label that will come with the new unit, and she's ready for the FexEx guy...

The USB ports can be used for this as well, the 9 pin D connector is easier to get cables though.

Does anyone have an idea why they would not want us to have a receiver with a serial port? It doesn't make a difference to me, but I'm sure there is someone who could do something with it.

Unless there is something entirely different about that interface versus USB interface for controlling the unit, say direct JTAG reprogramming, or things along those lines, then no, it makes no sense.

They haven't really said, but I have to believe that they need these boxes for something else. Things happen .. we work through it .. all becomes well. Just a part of being a field tester

So.... Does the remote have to go back as well? Although I guess the RX remote is really only good with an Hx24, right? Otherwise it acts like a regular RF remote, correct?

I was thinking these may have been part of a test bench controlled through the port for stress tests, etc.

Will my new one have a serial # that ends in 0001? I'm sure it's not #1 but it is pretty cool.
