    Yeah... tell me about it!

Thankfully, I only have a couple of recordings that I care too much about, and I think I have them duplicated on my HR23-700 anyway. HOWEVER, I had several movies (among several others) on my HR23-700 that I recorded during my (Showtime) "Anniversary Gift" :)rolleyes:) that I was happy to see were being repeated during this weekend's freeview which I could record to my HR24 and be done with the HR23-700 faster, but oh well... no big deal.

    Ditto for me too hdtvfan0001...

I also can't get over the irony that the reason I felt that way so strongly, even though the HR24 really isn't all that different from previous machines (at this time), was due to the speed of my HR23-700, and on the weekend I got an HR24, DirecTV made my HR23-700 the speediest it's been since sometime last year.

Still slower than the HR24 though! :D

Mine's still sitting disconnected from when I pulled it last night. Suspect I'll just put it back in the box now...

Now we'll start three or four days of everyone checking their account every few minutes to see if another receiver is listed.

I pulled my receiver today as well, but I did it to take pictures. Not sure if I am going to reconnect it, but probably not.

I am wondering if we can wait until the next box arrives to send back the current one. I ask because I was hoping to set the new box on top of the current one and just switch the cables out one for one.

That would make it really easy for me to hook up the new box. I too would like to know if we keep the current remote or send it back as well.

I cannot delete the current recordings on my HR24 as I reported in the appropriate thread, mine's dead.

PS. I hope that my leaving the box out of standby all afternoon isn't what killed it. I often did that with the HR 20 and it never hurt it.

I feel badly about this but honestly I can't think of anything I could have done to cause this. :(

I think mine is a 500. At least that's what it says on my account. I'll know for sure when I get back home tomorrow and open the box.

If it says -500 on your account you have the -100. It's displayed that way as the -100 does not exist yet in DirecTV's system.

That gets confusing but is correct. My HR24-500 is identified as a HR20-700 and the H24-100 is shown as a H21-100.

I'll bet that serial port is for Directv monitoring of the units at the office when they are actually up and running, and that someone sent those to you instead of to the main office.. ANd I assume it has to be serial, because all their units used ot have serial ports, so there systems are probably set up to use serial and not usb for logging data, etc...

I'm going to hook mine up tonight when I get home from work just to start kicking the tires. If the only difference is a serial port, that shouldn't stop the day to day stuff. As far as recordings go, I have yet to streamline my recordings by receiver so I have shows being recorded on multiple receivers.

While a little disapointed in the delay, this actually will work out good for me. I have been wanting to copy the external drive on my HR20-700 to a larger drive (750 to 1.5), but have been hesitant to do so in case I do something wrong.

But with this delay, I can give it a test run on the external on the HR24 and have nothing to lose. I will pull my old server out this evening and give a try. :)
