Sorry if this has been asked before. I tried searching, but wasn't quite sure of which keywords to use and came up empty.

Anyways, I received a replacement HR24 DVR yesterday. Everything seems fine with the exception of the background blue color that appears in the guide (the only way I can describe it is it's non-HD) and the blue coloring that appears in the selected box within the guide (several blue squares appear within the blue selection color). The actual TV programming is fine.

I have attached a picture, but I'm not sure if it will help describe the problem or not.

I tried swapping the HDMI cable for component, but that didn't do the trick either.

Any ideas or do I need to get a replacement receiver for the replacement?

Go into settings and make sure your HR24 is set to the correct output resolutions for your television.

I'm not sure what resolution that particular screen is even in though.

It's set for 720p, 1080i, and 1080p. As mentioned, the actual TV programming looks great. It's just the blue selection boxes and the blue background of the guide and settings screens.

OK...I'll try that. I wouldn't think those settings would have changed since I swapped a bad HR24 for a replacement HR24 on the same TV.

Nope. That had no effect. I've had DirecTV for years and have never had this issue before. Very strange! Like I said, the actual TV programming is just fine, so I'll try to not let it bother me (but it will be difficult!).

Check to see if your TV has a Picture Adjustments lock setting.

I know that you just got this and it might work or not, but have you reset the receiver since making all of your settings, software download, etc. ?

Was your replacement HR24 the same ( 100-200-500, etc. ) as the one it replaced or another model ? I have read that some of them output different things such as RGB or other.

My kids always switch mine to 480i, took me a while to figure out how they where doing it.

If you press and hold the exit button on the remote it will switch from HD to SD and vice versa.

I know you said you checked the resolutions but not sure what else you can check.

ANy settings in the TV for different modes, i.e. Movie , Normal, etc? Try changing those.

Yes, the OP needs to tell us what exact model of HR24 he has, and what TV....

Yes, I have an HR24-500. I believe my previous HR24 was an HR24-200. I haven't changed anything with the TV (the replacement HR24 is using the same TV as the previous HR24).

Now this is strange. I had it set to 1080i resolution. If I go back to 720p, the blue coloring above the guide grid displays correctly. However, the actual selections within the grid still show the darker blue boxes within the blue selection box.
