I think if you put an external HDD on any DVR, then put it on another DVR you'll get the same results. The SLs will remain viable and only the content will be useless. Yeah, putting it on the computer probably screwed up the whole process. But, again, I only use a large internal on my 44 so I'm not really positive what will happen. I've been trying to get away from the whole eSATA thing for a while now, the only reason I have one is because it's on a 24-200 and it's quite difficult to mount a full size HDD in a 200's sled.

Even the content will be available and playable if it was recorded via an AM21/22 to an external esata attached hard drive. I only record network programs (NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox) via my AM21 and have successfully moved these hard drives and a ThermalTake enclosure among my three HR24's.

I have not tried to relocate that drive and enclosure to my HR44 but I have no reason to believe it would no work. I also haven't done this within the past six months or so so I suppose there could have been software changes that would now prevent this.
