I would like to move my HR24 to the same cabinet that my HR34 is in. I presently have a HR22 and HR24 connected to one side of the SWM16 and my HR34 is connected to the other side. I only have 1 cable going to the HR34 and it would be very difficult to put another cable there. Can I use a green DTV 2-way splitter to the cable going to the HR34. then connect the HR34 and HR24 to it? If so, would that upset the balance on the SWM16 (7 tuners on one side and 2 on the other).
I do know that I will have to make one recvr IR and the other RF.
    Tks

Yes you can split the coax and hook up the other receiver.
Most of the posts I read say as long as one side is not over the allowable limit that it does not matter that it is not Balanced.

No problem splitting. You're allowed up to 8 tuners on each leg of the SWM

OK. Thanks for the info. Was worried, as I have read that one should try and keep the SWM16 "balanced".

That's a wives' tale. Just keep each side under 8 tuners.

I think we say "balanced" we say not to exceed more than 8 tuners on each side.

One of my 16s has 7 in use on one side and 0 on the other. Severely UN balanced, but works fine.

VOS confirmed the 'old wives tale' in another thread.
