I have not even got into the whole PQ comparison yet, but you know I will VOS. I figure by this weekend everything will be up and running, and I have a barrage of things I want to look at.

Software can make a huge difference, but something tells me that DirecTV is going to do what ever is needed to keep "speed" a priority.

    Dripping...
This morning I started up a DoD download of a 1080p movie (my ISP service is 15Mbps down), two recordings from HD channels, played a movie via DirecTV2PC and a local recording. On ALL my other HR2X boxes it would have caused it to crawl to a snails pace when trying to do any GUI functions but I couldn't tell a difference playing with the menus. I LIKE!

I was just thinking about this again ... Has anyone else observed the loss of the spinning LEDs? Does anyone mourn their loss?

Immediately after each CE download my first step is to turn off the LED ring light, but if there is no motion on the HR24 I can live with how it looks - I will never need to turn them down again.

I know my family will be disappointed though - they liked seeing it pulse when paused or spin in the appropriate direction when using REW/FFW.

I hope it's a bug. What's the point of the ring if it doesn't do anything?

Aesthetics? Design continuity despite the evolution of the casing and controls?

Personally, I like the blue ring animations and still miss the bright, distinct LEDs of the HR20-700. But maybe I just roll Olde Skoole like that.

I'm really thinking it's by design that there's no motion on the ring, as we've already noted a change in behavior with dimming altogether: it's not just the ring that dims, it's all front-panel LEDs.

I used the HR21 to get into bed.. when I shut it off it took a few seconds for the ring-O-death to go out.. just enough to get to the bed :D

#1 do you get the channels despite any errors?
#2 have you rerun SAT setup?

You probably need to post in the "My HR24 is not activated" thread.

The HR24-500 shows up in the DIRECTV2PC Pick Receiver selection window and will provide a Playlist, but the recordings won't play, and no error message given.

I've connected to ethernet while waiting on DECA's to show up and both PC's that I have DirecTV2PC on work with the HR24.

Following a reboot of the desktop DIRECTV2PC now works with the HR24-500.

    The laptop works well too.

Hadn't posted as an issue as troubleshooting was in-work.

I'm missing something here...I can't get MRV to come up at all. Haven't been able to get to the point to put in Location. I have misc options and MultiRoom DVR is turned on there. I have tried several keyword searches from the distant past and never get Location in System Setup.

It's older software - there's no separate Location menu. You'll have to go into Network -> Advanced to put in a location name.

After entering the name, don't press the down arrow or the box will hang, requiring a RBR. Press "EXIT" instead.

    Too late
Seriously, thought it was too late, I pressed down, not exit. Restarted and everything fine now.
