Well, not entirely. I need to go out and buy two HDMI cables, an optical cable, and then I will be totally hooked up. I have a temporary hookup in place however. I use HDMI, component video, as well as composite video from the ones in my media closet. The HR24-500 is going in there. The H24 I am putting in the kids' playroom will use HDMI, but I have component attached to it now, with stereo connections. So, I am hooked up, but not as intended to be.

I'm not so sure they're really worried about AM21, and I'd be real surprised if there were an AM24.

Since I needed to go find another HDMI cable, my first boot was just uplugging the HR21-200 and putting the HR24 right in it's place. Perfect.

When I noticed that it's going to be a while for activation, now have them side-by-side. Same power (off same UPS), hooked to same Switch, HDMI connected to same TV. Will DECAize them when the new DECA's arrive.

Oh, there are bigger fish to fry for sure, but to tidy up and include the entire package, at some point they will be concerned with the AM21. As for the AM24, that's so much a guess, which is why I said may be out soon. The corollary is it may not. :)

1:00 pm PST arrival. Did someone say this was the busiest day of the year for FedEx? I guess my route must be right up there.

Time to go take some pictures and start unpacking.

It would be nice if they did come up with one. IIRC the circuit board on a AM21 is fairly small and would fit into a X24 form factor without any rework.

I always thought the AM21 was overkill. They could just put it in a small dongle like box that hung off the back of the receiver. Why waste valuable shelf space.

OK, what was/is worst? Having your HR24 sitting in FedEx over the weekend or having your HR24 sitting in your equipment rack but can't do anything with it until it's activated?;)

Fed Ex finally showed up at about 1:00 pm pst. Going slow and taking pictures etc., I got to the activation screen at 1:43 pm and posted in the activation thread. Am now sitting here with the rest of you waiting...

One (trivial) dissapointment right off the bat, only one set of yellow/red/white composite video/audio outputs. I feed both a slingbox and a UHF modulator, so now have to split an output. Like I said, trivial.

On my Slingbox Solo it has a set of passthough outputs, couldn't you use those to feed the modulator, or doesn't your Sling have those?

Ya I was hoping after 7:30 CST I could still get mine activated if it isn't, for the night to "play with"

Oh well I can also wait till tomorrow if I have to.

I think it would be pretty poor of them to not spend time reworking the AM21 into a physical case that matches the new generation of DVRs if in fact they have found a fair amount of AM21s to be sold (if not, then I agree why worry about it).

They really do not have to do anything with the electronic design of it as the board in the AM21 is tiny and already supported, so it would just be a new metal/plastic case that it is in. Seems simple to keep customers happy.

Now on a train heading to an event. Wife is baby sitting the HR24 until midnight ET.

It's sitting on the activation screen.

Lefty/Smiddy, please do me a favor and if you see that we need to do something, PM me and I'll call home.

Actually, either way PM me even if we just need to see if the activation went through.

    Thanks guys.
