i have an 2 HR24's , and a 46 inch westinghouse 1080p tv and when i record something , eg the biggest loser in hd, when i goto watch it , its in 4:3..

the way i recorded it, was goto the guide click on the biggest loser with the HD logo next to it.

if i watch it live its in 16:9 hd, but if i watch what i recorded its 4:3.. maybe something simple , just got the HR24's.

The guide may show the HD logo, but you are probably recording the SD channel. Check the guide setup and select the option to remove the SD duplicates from the guide.

The Biggest Loser wasn't in HD.

Not all content is produced in HD, and even shows that are produced in HD are often only shown in SD for re-runs. That's slowly changing, and studios and stations get the budgets to upgrade more of their gear to HD-capable equipment, but SD will still be with us for quite a while yet.

Just installed my HR24 and initially everything was being sent to my TV in 480i. But there was a box on my screen telling me to press the FORMAT button on the DVR so as to take advantage of the 1080i source material. Once done, and various setup options later, it switches nicely between 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i.
