    HR2x 0x290: 1080p/24 Issues (old thread)

OK Folks, this thread is going to have different rules than you'd normally find here. This is an effort to hunt down televisions that might be having issues bringing up 1080p.

    1) This is ** ONLY ** if your set supports 1080p/24 .. Some sets only support 1080p/60.

    2) Only post if your television is not detected by the software as compatible automatically (e.g. You cheated and pressed {INFO} and it worked, please post).

    3) What Make and Model TV you have.... And if your TV has a "software"/firmware number or something else, that would be helpful too.

    4) Did you "cheat" and press {INFO} to make it work? (Yes/No)

    5) In some cases, the manufacturer of your television will not claim to support 1080p/24 .. However, by "cheating" you are still able to make it work. If this is the case, then please post your information here.

    6) If your set does not support 1080p/24 at all (either according to manufacturer or by trying it) - DO NOT POST - it will be deleted

Thank you for helping with this.

Also Note: Any and all discussion will be deleted from this thread ..

Additional Note: If your TV works properly .. DO NOT POST .. it will be deleted

    HR2x Model-manufacturer:HR21-700
    TV Make/Model:Sony KDL-40VL130
    TV Firmware: R-BMN-A-EI-C-D-P-A-O
    TV should support 1080p24, 1080p60
    HDMI Connection Yes/No:Yes

1080p resolution Enabled:Screen goes blank when enabling. I let it stay black until it gave me the "sorry your tv doesn't support the 1080p broad cast". I did this 4 times. After the 3rd time i was able to see the message "your tv supports" but it only stayed on for about .5 seconds

(tricked it and pressed "info" anyway")

    Misc Options report:480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p/24, 1080p/60

I am downloading the Hulk Test Trailer now. Hulk 1080p trailer played just fine without any jitter or audio sync issues

    HR21-700 with AM21
Sony KDL-52XBR4 - 2-08 manufacturer date (made in USA)
Not sure how/where to get firmware info.
Does not detect 1080p automatically. I get a black screen with does not support message.
Hit info and it works fine. Plays Bucket List flawless with TV reporting 1080p/24

My Sony Bravia SXRD 60A3000 supports 1080p/24.

    On 0x0290:

My HR21-700 correctly detected that it did.
My HR20-100 incorrectly detected that it did not.

The "info trick" was necessary on the HR20-100 to force 1080p/24 mode.

    On 0x029b:

My HR21-700 incorrectly detected that it did not.
My HR20-100 incorrectly detected that it did not.

The "info trick" was necessary on both units to force 1080p/24 mode.

So, not only did 0x029b not make this better, it actually made it worse.

HR20-700: Samsung LN52A850 (fw 1004) not detected through Denon AVR-5308CI (fw 1.76) with video processing disabled.

No problems with PS3 connected the same way.

After using the Info trick, the 1080p Hulk trailer plays fine.

    I have a Westinghouse LVM-42W2 firmware 1.19 connected via HDMI to a Directv HR20-700 firmware 0x29B.

The settings screen resolutions tab has 1080p grayed out and it says it is not supported by the TV.

I downloaded and played some 1080p content and looked at the system info on my monitor and it showed 1920x540 (1080i). I have an email into Westinghouse support to see what they have to say about this.

I have searched, but can't find anything specific that indicates if this monitor supports 1080p/24 or 1080p/60 or both.

I have same Westy Monitor but on firmware 1.04, same DTV Receiver with 0x29b, and it reports it supports 480p,720p, 1080i and 1080p/60 via required HDMI connection per DTV. Make sure you have Native ON, but we are still out of luck on the 1080p/24.

Good luck on Westinghouse replying to your email with a educated answer.

Sony VPL-VW40 projector did not auto detect 1080p24. Info cheat did work. Projector does support 1080p24 and works fine with PS3 in 1080p24 auto mode. HR21-100 and PS3 are connected to projector through a Denon 3808 AVR. Incredible Hulk 1080p24 test via on demand played fine.

When I tried the automatic recognition, sometimes I got audio with no video, sometimes I got nothing. When I pressed {INFO} during the test, it worked just fine. Haven't tried "The Hulk" trailer yet.

    I have 3 sets that support 1080p/24.

2 work fine (Both Samsung DLP's)

On my Mitsubishi WD-73734 (which supports 1080p 60hz and 24hz)

With 0x0290 I was able to set it to 1080p successfully.
With 0x029b I can't set it to 1080p. I get the "Sorry" message. I will try forcing it with info.

UPDATE: I tried forcing 1080p with the info key. I tried the test trailer. At first I get no picture. It take about 15 seconds to sync, but once it does, it plays fine.

My TV is Sammy HL61A750 (latest firmware), it passed the 1080p test in setup with no problems, but when trying to play the Hulk trailer, I get no video or audio, and it appears the player is locked up. I do see the 720/1080 lights, but no video/audio. Had to power off the player at the front panel to get video back

I did get the trailer did play once, but my HR20-100 shows it at 480p.

Udate: Trailer will play at 1080p/24 if the broadcast I'm watching is HD, if it's SD, it plays at 480p, windowed.

Exacty the same config and setup behavior except that I also have a Sony STR-DA5300ES A/V Receiver in the "middle". HR21 connects to the 5300ES (as does the PS3 with no problems) and the XBR4 connects to the 5300ES...all via HDMI 1.3 cables.

I downloaded and installed the Hulk video and it works perfectly and by using the "display" button on the Sony TV remote it displayed "1080p/24".

    HR2x Model-manufacturer: HR21-700 release 0x029B
    TV Make/Model: Sony BRAVIA KDL-52WL135
    TV Firmware: Do Not Know
TV supports: HDMI video at 1080i, 1080p, and 1080/24p in a resolution of 1920 dots x 1080 lines
    HDMI Connection Yes/No: Yes
    HDMI Logo Cable Yes/No: Yes

Setup HD 1080p resolution Enabled: Screen goes blank when enabling. I let it stay blank until it gave me the "Sorry your TV doesn't support the 1080p broad cast". I tried selecting it again, but this time I cheated and pressed the D* Remote [Info] button which made it work.

I downloaded the Hulk 1080/24p Test Trailer. The movie trailer played just fine without any jitter or audio sync issues. The Sony TV Display Banner showed 1080/24p during the VOD play back.

    I have a Mitsubishi WD65734 HDMI is running through a Denon AVR-2808CI.

I had to use the "Info" trick because it did NOT detect that my set supports 1080p/24.

    The Hulk video played fine.

Well, I guess it is official, Westinghouse LVM-42w2 does not support 1080p24. I got this response from Westinghouse:

    Thank you for your inquiry.

We apologize for any inconvenience in waiting for our response, but
below is what I can suggest to move forward.

Our television is in fact 1080p. However, they will not run at 24hz.
They can convert up to 60hz, but if this is not enabled on the HD box,
    it would not display.

If you have any further questions, you may contact us through email, or
by calling us toll-free at 1-866-287-5555, between 9am and 9pm Eastern
Standard Time, Monday through Saturday. One of our technicians will
    assist you.

    Samsung FP-T5884 (1080p/24)

Downloaded the Hulk trailer, TV flickered to change to 1080p/24 and both lights lit up on HR21 with no issues.

Looked great...too bad audio only in DD5.1 :)
