    New to DBSTalk....

Long time DTV customer. Left 09-27-11 for UVERSE; coming back 09-27-12.

New order for DTV includes HR34 (& HR24? also). Found on web that the guide speed is awesome. Doing my home work prior to install and found on the DTV site something disturbing; why I am posing the question here.

A post says "My receiver is not connected directly to my HDTV...."; the answer comes back as: "You may have issues seeing the new on-screen guide..."

Notice the response is conditional; not definitive.

Now that the background is defined, here is the question:

Anybody out there have the HR34 connected to their AVR, via HDMI, then the monitor out from the AVR (via HDMI) to the TV?

IF so, does the new HD Guide work as advertised?

(My environment: WD-82840; Pioneer Elite SC-35. HDMI Cat2 HiSpeed cables; HDMI 1.4 all around)

    Thanks in advance

The guide works fine when the HDMI signal goes through an AVR.

What doesn't work is if you have a second TV hooked up to the composite output of the DVR. There's no simultaneous SD and HD GUI.

Thanks for the feed back; appreciated.

Looking forward to the HR34 (in spite of the firmware).
