HR44 & HR24 MOCA questions

    No, you don't necessarily need to have a CCK-W for WH and VOD using those two receivers. In fact you don't really need any CCK at all for WH as well as VOD if the HR44 is close to the router or other switch on the home network for a direct ethernet hookup.

    I think Weaknees is just listing the CCK-W since its the only model officially distributed by DIRECTV for customer installation and can be used in a wired configuration with its WiFi turned off. And also because use of the HR44's internal CCK is not an "officially" authorized installation option.

    When you go to Weaknees website and ask what you need for whole home and on demand with an hr44 and hr24 it tells you that you need a CCKW for wired setup, are you saying that is not the case?

    It certainly is in my home! And it was so in my previous house. I've connected wirelessly (which I recommend only if no alternative), and via ethernet plugged directly into a Genie.
