A question from someone who hasn't been around for a while, so pardon me if this sounds like a stupid question...

For a while, if you requested an HD DVR, you may have gotten an HR20, 21, 22, 24 - they could never guarantee which model you would get (having added three at various times after the HR24 came out, I never did get a 24!).

If I were to upgrade to or add a Genie, would it definitely be an HR44? Or would I possibly get an HR34 with no way of specifying?

Thanks - haven't been around DBS Talk for a while!

Same thing, you get whatever they send you or have on the truck, it could be an HR34, or an HR44.

That hasn't changed Best to call and see if they will upgrade you for fee - The genie requires Swm install so it may require a truck roll - then you should get a hr44 from the truck

Definitely would require truck roll as I don't have SWM right now.

Thanks for the responses. I'm still not sure I want to take the plunge. I need to ponder it further. I have one HR22-700 right now (along with two HR20s, an R22 operating in HD and an HR23). Not sure if I want to take a chance on getting an HR34 and having to deal with the same slugishness issues.

    M. Picard: The HR 34 is not the spawn of Satan as some would have you believe. Though I much prefer the HR44, my HR34 caused no problem. But I don't channel surf, only Guide surf. And I don't reboot it regularly.

NĂ©amoins, (IIRC, that means nevertheless in French....??) when the installer calls to confirm (not always done) you can ask him if he's got an HR44 for you. If not, cancel and reschedule.)

    You will like Mme. Genie!

I too prefer my HR44-200. But having experience with both the HR22-100 and HR34-700 I can honestly say I prefer the HR34-700 and it's issues over the HR22's. Take Laxguy's advice. Everyone I know who hesitated getting a Genie admitted they were sorry for waiting so long.
