So, I had both the Vikings/Saints game and Steelers/Jags game recorded a week ago Sunday. I wanted to save the Vikings game as of course it was the Minneapolis Miracle game. So prior to the Eagles/Vikings game Sunday, I went into the folder to delete the Steelers/Jags game and did so. After I did that I noticed that the Vikings/Saints game was gone. I looked in the history to see how it was deleted and there was no history on that recording. I was kind of pissed because if the the Vikings happened to advance to the Super Bowl and win, I wanted all three playoff games saved to watch again in the future. But of course they stunk up the game in Philadelphia, so I didn’t care as much that it was deleted. Has anyone else experienced this unwanted program deletion problem?

You didn't have the two games in the same folder did you?

New or old GUI? How had you set the recordings?

Yes, they automatically went there. Is there a way to keep them separate?

New, I set the recordings in the Guide, the way I always do.

No way that I know of. I've mistakenly deleted folders that included content I wanted to keep many times. Especially episodes of Jeopardy, I record each episode of that show on all my HRs. If I see one missing from the playlist I know I have a problem somewhere. So, I end up with hundreds of episodes and occasionally hit that folder by mistake while deleting something else and away go those hundreds of episodes. The folders do serve a purpose. Perhaps just a mistake you made?

You hit record once or twice and set it as a series recording?

No, this must be a glitch, if you record multiple NFL games it usually goes into one folder but if he deleted a specific game within the folder the other games should have been left untouched, it only deletes the entire folder if you delete from the Playlist homescreen.

Well if you hit it twice on a playoff game then all playoff games will record to the same folder, and if he’s on the new GUI, he could have thought he was deleting the most recent game and not the folder because the floating box shows the info on a folder of the most r cent recording which makes it easy to mistaken that for just one game instead of the entire folder. Floating box needs to go...

Yes if you hit delete on that inane floating box, the whole folder gets deleted, and on certain sports it will create a folder even when you hit the record button once.

Right, but you have to be vigilant about what is in each folder. It seems as if the football games are put into folders haphazardly at times. I get some games listed by themselves, some in folders. Used to be I'd see all the 44 recordings in the Playlist by themselves, then they started going into folders with other games. Now I don't see a pattern, sometimes I have them in folders, sometimes they just show in the Playlist without being in a folder. Could it be the title the Guide uses? "NFL Football" titled games go in one folder, no matter who's playing. If I backup a game titled "NY Jets vs *****", I get all those titled games in one folder. Sometimes. Whole things kinda screwy, it's easy to hit the wrong button.

Yeah, now that I think about it, it probably was inadvertent user error. When I want to delete items out of folder now, I either do it right away at the end of the recording, or go into the recording and select info twice and do it from that menu. The floating box does suck.

That's refreshing. Not often we see someone take responsibility for a mistake they've made. Thanx.

Yes, if it's the new GUI, you can join the club of people who have accidentally deleted folders instead of single episodes.

This is something I don't remember happening the last time the GUI changed.

No, once you see the new GUI with the "floating box" you will see why this can happen.

Two things fix the delete by accident issue. One is to make sure you are in a folder vs. it since that is different in the new GUI... and two to not hit delete before the s teen is redrawn when you are trying to delete a couple items in a row real quick...

I'm sure this is good advice, but what does that mean? Versus what?

It’s easier to confuse if you have highlighted a folder or one program with the new GUI at first. But once you start using it it’s easy to tell if you are in a folder because open folders now only show what’s in that folder only. You can’t scroll down past the folder to see other things like you can in the old GUI.

    Edit... cause we’ll...
