HR54 Reset Itself Now Features & Functionality Unavailable Prompt, Anyone Solve This??

    You might make a mess of your account working with 2 genies on your setup. I would not do that at all.

    For the replacement software that will most likely update early in the morning around 3-6 am.

    The one that is not working is currently not activated, they said I have 21 days to return it before my account gets charged, then they said you have like 450 days to return it and get the amount credited off your account.

    How could a bad HDD cause his problem? Really can't see that.

    For what it is worth, the second HDD test that takes over two hours passed, one final reboot now and this thing will probably be boxed up, I can't see them discovering over the phone how to enable it to recognize a card and I don't want to deal with a tech, I just hope this reconditioned one holds up.

    Reboot did nothing but the good news is when I plugged the reconditioned HR54-700 in, it got the 0x11ac update, so far everything working perfectly and the progress bar is more transparent, I can finally read cable news headlines behind it from ten plus feet away.

    Thanks to the people here who help out when we are dealing with Directv madness.

    It is not, no way, it is possible that the HS-17 or even HR54-500's had it with the 0x114b but all I know is with certainty is that the HR54-200 with the 0x114b update had a more opaque progress bar than what I am looking at now with 0x11ac. Same lighting conditions, same tv brightness settings, same distance from tv and actually the real test, it matches the transparency of the info bar above, with the 0x114b, that progress bar was darker than the info bar.

    Yes, I consider it a minor victory to now have the ability to read an NBA scoreboard through it, confirmed tonight, it still could be improved, no need for a title and the extra block of dark space but I can live with this version.

    I thought I could live with this version but it's annoying during ball games. I use a 24 most of the time when watching sports. If they'd just make the PB go away during 30 Second clicks...well, that would solve my problem. We don't see the PB when we click back, why must we see it when we click forward? How hard is that to understand?

    What is a 24? Oh, perhaps HR24? Well the thing is SNY (Mets) usually has the scoreboard in the upper left part of the screen, so no issue there but I agree that the Progress Bar can still be improved, dump the title of the program and eliminate any shade not directly behind the timeline and clock or if you insist on keeping the title then eliminate all shade in the areas not serving the timeline/clock/title.

    But I tested it with NBA games and scoreboard can be fully read, stock quotes are visible on CNBC and headlines on cable news networks, for that reason it is liveable. You are correct though, 30 second skip, the bar serves no purpose with that function.

    Rich, side question, now that I have to reset all of my season passes and manual records, e.g. Jeopardy, the best way to avoid any glitches is to go to guide, more info on show, then record series and confirm button, correct?

    I think using the Guide is the most reliable method of recording. Yes, when we use "24" we are talking about HR24s.

    Probably won't make a difference but I did ask the Directv rep who was helping me on my bricked HR54, if he could recommend (to the programmers) to not display the Progress Bar when enabling 30 Second Skip.

    I was going to add a larger drive to this reconditioned HR54 replacement but if this thing dies on me, what would be the point, I'll probably burn my blu-ray library and have some movie server setup instead of relying on recording all my favorite movies on the Genie.

    Appreciate that but it's probably an act of futility. I've been telling them the same thing since the new GUI came out. They didn't make using a Genie a better experience by forcing that GUI upon us, I think.

    The solution to this problem is to have technical support do a "Dummy Order". Basically they resend a brand new order for you account but they input no information. This resets your system and the DVR features on the Genie and DVR comes back to life. Hope this helps.

    Thanks, they already sent me the reconditioned HR54, your solution might help some people but I have read it definitely does not fix all accounts that are experiencing this, other problem is I tried to get multiple reps to process a dummy order, none of them could pull it off or know what it was, basically it appears that Directv has zero motivation to learn why this happened in the first place and how to solve it.
