My account number is under 5800 ;) Been around a while. Like from the second week DirecTv was available. Would have been the first week, but all the RCA 18" Dish/receiver kits sold out before I could get to Montgomery Wards. Now Wards isnt even around anymore. Can you say USSB?

I've been very happy with DirecTV for a few years now. Much better than TWC that's for sure!

Yes, I remember Montgomery Ward. That's where I got my first Directv receiver, a 4th generation Hughes, with an 18" dish. It was a big thing, back then. Although it's almost 14 years ago, for me, it feels like yesterday. Walmart has killed all of the fun, of shopping. Gone are the days of Hills, Ames, Montgomery Ward, Jamesway and a number of other department store chains. Now we have Walmart, Target, a disabled K Mart and Kohls. Doesn't seem like a fair trade.

I've heard alot of people say DTV HD is alot better than others. I know DTV does MPEG-4 compression and DISH only does MPEG-2 (I Believe). Do other cable companies not do MPEG-4? Just curious xD

Dish Network does MPEG4; however they downsample their HD resolution from the standard 1920x1080 to 1440x1080 giving viewers "HD-Lite".

Been with DirecTV since 2000 and never had a problem with dealing with them. When I called and asked about upgrading my HD DVR from 2009 I got a truck roll and installer came out with new HR24-200 a few weeks back and got it hooked up and activated in about 10 minutes.

I once worked for Dish Network as a warehouse worker and they offered me free basic programming for employees. I said thanks but no thanks I'll stick with DirecTV. Probably why I never got a raise in 2+ years there!

This is pretty much the way I feel about it too.
Criticizes yes, I do it too. But, I hardly see any bashing of DirecTV from anyone here, other than from Dish subscribers.

I have been a DTV customner since 1997 and never have asked a lot from the company but very happy with the service. Recently I called to ask about the whole-house DVR set-up and DTV added two new HD-DVR's , upgraded the dish, and the only charge was I have is $3 more per month!!

That's one of the reasons why I'm a loyal customer!!
