I saw in the guide that that channel 263 has moved to 267.
So why do you think that would mean BBCA-HD would be added next? Wouldn't BBCA-HD have the exact same channel number that BBCA-SD, 264, has now?
Moving channel numbers doesn't indicate anything.
Just wondering since BBC America SD is channel 264.
BBCA-HD will be 264, too.
263 was the Documentary Channel right? Maybe they thought putting it by bio and History made more sense than between Soapnet and BBCA. But certainly no connection to HD on BBC.
Isnt there a thread for this already?
Sorry that is what I meant that this channel being moved will make the empty channel become BBC America HD Channel 264.
Why would moving a network from 263 effect 264?
That makes absolutely no sense.
"That can get you in a lot of trouble, thinking, Errol. You shouldn't do so much of it."
Craiger, Channel numbers and assignments are not directly related to how that channel is transmitted or what transponder it's on, so moving DOC from 263 to 267 doesn't really change anything.
As another example, Directv's 101 network appears on several channels (101, 239,etc) but is only being broadcast by the satellite once. This stuff can get complicated, but in simplified terms, the satellite works with the receiver to assign stations to specific channel numbers.
As others have indicated, DOC moving from 263 to 267 could just mean that Directv thinks it fits better in the lineup there, next to BIO. On the otherhand, it could mean that Directv wants to add some other new network to 263. For instance, about a month ago they moved a bunch of the movie channels (HBO, SHO, etc) around to make room for the new channels they've promised.
