Said by someone who hasn't seen it on HD.
your not serious are you....have you actually seen it in HD???
The difference is significant, and yes the show does scream for HD. The sets, the makeup and hair styling, the wardrobe all SCREAM for HD.
This is the first show where my wife actually asked if we should just wait till the second season comes out on Blu-Ray
I'm waiting for season 2 to be available on Blu Ray (or HD) before trying to watch it again. I loved season 1, but season 2 is unwatchable in SD. (Ok, I can see it but it is so ugly that I choose not to.)
..that broke the camels back?
I wrote a polite but strongly worded email, expressing that they were CHOOSING not to carry AMC HD, when it was clearly available, and misrepresenting the size of their HD offerrings by counting PPV channels, regional sports, and national nets (when most are forbidden from receiving them)
I have also noticed (before I sent my note, obviously) that the website seems to dwell less on the number of channels.. maybe they've been getting this complaint alot...
Clearly, 'Mad Men' was my reason as well, it's one of the best Dramas on TV, and whoever said it wasn't improved by HD clearly is not concerned with picture quality at all. You don't need to see 'glorious vistas' to make HD highly superior. Frankly, these days, I look at HD as just making the resolution "the same" or "acceptable" on my 55" HDTV as SD was 12 years ago on my 32" sony "V series.."
(ot nostalgia) Remember the first time you got DTV on your 32" sony v series, and how glorious that 480x480 mpeg-2 picture was? sigh. (/nostalgia) One day, I might have a HD tv that is as good at HD as that one was at SD.... I haven't seen an LCD that looks as good (relatively) today as that one did back then... And I can't afford the "good" plasmas....
This is why we never watch it anymore. We used to all the time when it was commercial free.
We're waiting for TCM & Fox to go HD!
I know this is getting redundant, but isn't this what an hr20 with 30 second skip enabled is for?
Although I sometimes tolerate commercials in movies by skipping them, the HR20 just will not restore the edited segments.
I see what you're saying and I would like to see those stations as well in HD. Can't stomach a movie with commercials and/or edits. I think most of us asking for AMC HD would really like to see AMC HD because of the excellent Mad Men series. Would love to see that series in HD.
