that seems to be the standard response right now. Im guessing the programming credits isnt something you would be willing to settle for?

Patience is the best advice i could give you. It took me a while to get mine, but i had nothing but time. I had signed up a few months earlier and it wasnt like i was going anywhere. But by that rationale why would i be able to get it and not a new customer?

Yeah, I wrote an email back stating that I didn't find the generic copy and paste reponse very welcoming and that it turned me off a bit from them.

I do have the time, so I'm not in a real hurry. I would like to sign up for nfl sunday ticket, but like I stated before, I don't think I can swing the $300 right now. I'm going to maui on vacation next month so I can't blow extra money at this moment. I could probably swing 150, but not 300.

Orith, respond back saying just that...

The more upfront with emails, the better it eventually gets, imo

Ok they will still give away equipment. I know cause they just did it for a friend of mine who got the hr20 free and all with the sunday ticket thing. The thing is they no longer have to. They will soon have more hd capacity then anyone else nationally. Thier service is getting better ( i ifeel anyways) all the time and thier church rate is low. So be patient and call again. They should come around. Tell them cables is free and you would be willing to split it with them if needs be. @ $99 to you. It amy help if not get an h20 and love the new programming when it lights up.

this is very true, the ordering system simply won't allow any changes to the price, it's 299.00 or nothing, (199.00 w/instant rebate) that's only for the first one the other hd-dvr's would not come with a rebate so 299.00 period for each add'l one......if the ordering system would allow add'l hd-dvr's to be ordered , which it won't ,so no matter how many times you call or what you say to them, it will not be any less than 199.00 for one hd-dvr. and since only 1 hd-dvr can be ordered (for now anyway, they have been talking about alllowing customers to order more than one hd-dvr). So the hope for additional hd-dvr's really is a mute point.

also retention will not do anything for a potential new customer, they will simply transfer you to direct sales, retention is only for existing customers,,,,not sure how other posters have gotten a free hd-dvr,,,i think they are referring to getting one after they become a customer, (only possible way)..

Not trying to burst any bubbles here, just trying to clarify that there are no "deals" to be had.

also to answer the op's ? there is no "trial period"...if you cancel within 72 hours, you may be able to have the ecf (early cancelation fee) waived, but you would not get your upfront equipment costs refunded,,,since the sale is final once installed and activated...you would however get a full refund of eqiupment if the order is canceled before install and activation....then you also have to return all equipment (In boxes provided upon disconnection) or get charged for non returned equipment fees on top of the early cancelation fee.

    55.00 for standard
240.00 for reg hd /sd dvr
    400.00 for hd-dvr

That's what I figured. Can they do anything on the price of h20? If I could get an hr20 and h20 for $200 that would be cool.

this won't work either, he can either get the h20 free (after mir) or 100.00 off /mir for the hd-dvr, at the time of the initial order. If he opts for the h20 and then upgrades to the hr20 later, he will not get the 100.00 discount on the hr20..it's one 100.00 rebate/discount per account . period.

so if he wanted an hr20 and an h20 his final cost after mail-in rebate or instant rebate would be 298.00 +tax + sh

I believe he was saying to get the H20 free at signup, and then call retention a few weeks later trying to get a free HR20.

So I made the plunge, the installer is here now.

After getting everything set up we were going through the guided setup and he had me select 3lnb instead of 5lnb. We've been going back and forth since. He is new and not really sure, how can I tell what dish I have installed?

    I'm getting 1 HR20 and 2 H20's.

On the work order the dish's product number is ODU-KA/KU, is that the right dish?

    Thanks

More on my total experience later.

The work order says the right dish. Does it say slimline across the front of it?

If so you have the right dish and you do need to select 5 LNB.

4 lines from the dish to a Zinwell WB68 multi-switch. Then you will have 8 outputs.

Make sure he installs the Zinwell WB68.

    Yep Zinwell WB68

Which inputs should be hooked up, does it matter which cable goes in which input?

(He was setting it up with just one!)

    Love this forum.

They need to be connected to the 4 left inputs. It does not matter what cable goes to what input.

He's running the remaining 2 cables to the multiswitch now. He got here at 10 and it's now 5:30. The house was prewired so all he had to do was set up the dish and run the lines down to the basement. Is 8 hours to do this normal?

I actually feel sorry for the guy, this is his first week and at one point in was practically in tears (after her accidentally ripped my siding). He said this was going to be his last setup and then he was quiting. Hopefully everything works.

It should not take 8 hours. It normally take 3 to 4 hours to do a full install. Since everything is already prewired it should probably take 2 maybe 3 hours.

Anyway let us know how it goes.
