If you are having a hard time deciding between Dish and Directv, maybe looking at the two companies respective Customer Agreements will help. I urge anyone considering either to read them carefully. Here are the links to the agreements. You must read both the Customer and Lease Addendum for Directv if you want to fully understand their agreement.

This is just my opinion, but after reading the two (after the fact), I would have choose Dish. The opportunity for Directv to extended your lease agreement (12-14 months) with any change or addition to your hardware is too prevalent in the Directv agreement. I don't see the same language in the Dish agreement.

And that's probably what makes Dish Network so restrictive with their equipment. They limit how many receivers you can have and charge a lot to get them.

Because I agreed to extended comittments, I got all the DirecTV in my signature for a total of about $300.

Well an after the fact check I found for the same $199 "DTV HD reciever Upgrade" I just got, I would have been able to get 3 new DVRs (two high def and one standard def dou) and a standard def none non DVR box. Enough to to hook up the same 5 tvs I currently have hooked up with Directv.
