I too was totally wireless...I have one more thing to do to be totally on DECA net. I have no ethernet in my house, and you can see that by this picture, I will still be without ethernet and remove wireless and should work.

I will be doing this tomorrow...hopefully I won't drown in my own sweat...
There are other tests I want to run that I discussed earlier with VOS, but with the time off tomorrow, I think it best to use it to run the cable for my final setup.

I thought about doing that too...and may do it in the future...but for now, and for testing...having one strong wireless as the one/main DECA Internet touchpoint is in place and working.

I hear ya...my interest in getting off wireless totally, is because that is the focal point of all network traffic. That one wireless device with its thruput limits, which sometimes changes by the minute can and will cause a bottleneck it you have say, 3 dvr's trying to download a VOD or other network service. I know the theoretical max should be plenty, but I've never seen any come close to reaching it. Now, I had a 3 wireless device setup and strong signals, but viewing the signal level would at time indicate 100%, but the device thruput would be at 50, then another time 80 and another 130 and so on...Then the router would indicate one thing and the WGA600N would indicate another. Never knew which one to believe. I like the fact that if and when I add a new device to another room, all I need to do is add another dongleie...no setup, configuration or management of the device. The question is how is DTV going to market them, will they sell them as individual units or as a network pack of 2, 3 or 4? What price point? Hopefully they will be less expensive to buy than a wireless device which is on average about 80 - 100 bucks per device!

In my case, the remaining one wireless Ethernet Converter is located within 15 feet of the router on the other side of a wall - so the signal is 100%
virtually 99.99% of the time. Unless I migrate that device to "N" to match my router (which is also N), the performance does is solid as is. There's no incentive for me to go "N" for the one remote location right now...but its an option.

Will multiple streams "break-up" that G connection?

I keep looking at this as a layered or tiered system.
    Receivers connected via DEAC
DECA connected to the rest of the network via wireless
Computers & internet wireless to the router.

Multi-streams of MRV running at 100%
VOD downloading at full speed. Multi VODs will still be limited by ISP speed.
    DirecTV2PC is limited by wireless.

I just finished running the coax and adding the 2-way splitter. (My 12yr old daughter helped...got to give her some of the glory :)) Installed the PI-21v / DECA to the router disconnected my WGA600N and unplugged it from the power source. MRV still works fine. TVAPPS work(little faster), Downloading a VOD(Little faster), Tested DTV2PC.(Same speed in loading up...ie slow...) The increase in speed in some of the networking stuff may be due to no dropped packets or collisions?

Everything looks great! I will be testing some more, but as it stands I am on DECA / internet with no wireless and no ethernet! Beer:30 time ;)

Network Magic and McAfee see the STB's since they are not behind the WGA600N bridge.

Thanks for your and RunnerFL's kind supporting words. Very much appreciated. My father is happily back home and I have been able to finally complete the DECA installtion from its forced interruption on Monday.

DECA's installed on HR21-700(also has DECA & PI & router connection as per Fig. 7 of instructions), HR21-100, and H21-200. One other receiver, a HR20-700 is off the same SWM8, but does not have a DECA and is connected to my home network as normal. All seems to be working so far except for my HR21-100 which does not want to play anything MRV on a brief check. I hope to get time tonight and tomorrow to narrow down whether is is a DECA problem (which I doubt) or a CE problem since I have been having 15 to 20 second delays from IR remote input to response by the receiver since the CE last Friday. All DECA's showing green lights and seem to work flawlessly. No noticable change in signal strenghts. I installed the DECA on my H21-200 without depowering the receiver first and it didn't see the other receivers (DECA or home network connected) until I menu rebooted it and then all showed up on the list.

Very true, in retrospect it was a bad attempt at humor and I am very glad your dad got better and you were able to get there to be with the family.

At least I pulled VOS down with me :D

Somehow I missed the posts about your dad, 69hokie. Very glad your dad is doing better. Family first, playtime second, then maybe work... :)

I see your dad is blessed with a great son, may he also be blessed with renewed good health.

    Cheers,
    Tom
