    TV has lost the classic definition - they are now referring to "TV content" and you are permitted to take it with you via specific means with specific limitations. Not a carte blanch anything goes.

    It isn't "your TV" (content). It is the programmers and they get to choose how you watch it.

    People have always done this with RVs and vacation homes as long as they are not using it in 2 places at once. Heck , they even will change your service address a couple of times per year to let you do that.

    To be more exact, it really should be correctly stated as "go with the 3D2" version - it's newer than the "3D1" which had some issues and while irrelevant in your case I guess regarding use at the vacation cottage, still it can only support up to 13 satellite tuners.

    The 3D2 can support up to 21 satellite tuners (though not officially as such by DIRECTV for some strange reason).

    Reason: with the HS 17 Able to support 15 tuners - With only 7 active - Not allowed to have an HX or H2X No need to support 21 even though it can
