iPad app-like access for PCs and Macs?

Discussion in 'DIRECTV General Discussion' started by inkahauts, Oct 1, 2011.

Would you like to see the iPad app ported to the pc, mac, and/or a web interface?

  1. Yes, of course!

  2. Don't care, there is zero chance I would ever use it.

Hmmmm. Anyone besides me recall the movie, "I'm all right, Jack"? (1959!- Terry-Thomas and Petey Sellers.)

Alas, that is not one of the very few movies I've watched that were before my time. :)

Don't care. I would RARELY (not never) use it.

I'd rather see an app for my Samsung Android tablet.

Is there an Android App like the iPad app? My 10.1 Sammy is looking for that. Or did someone slip?

Big +1 for me. I have 7 PC's at home...desktops, laptops, and netbooks. I don't understand why I should have to go out and buy an ipad to use this software. My GF and I always have our laptops handy in the living room where we watch most of our TV. I, like Tom, don't do pads, tablets, ipham, or what not.

Checked- it's not on Netflix, but the original "School for Scoundrels" is—pretty much the same cast, with Ian Carmichael, too.

I voted yes for at least PC use and at best PC, Mac, web interface, and Android in addition to just iOS.

I also rather resent it that DIRECTV seems to cater only to iphone and ipad users with their apps as though everyone has, wants, or can even afford them for that matter.

For those who might like an interim application that's browser based, search in the forum for Waltz49. He developed a remote that worked extremely well, but for me, I love the iPad app, and wish everyone could have one.

Please note that some/many of the Macros in the app do not do what they were intended and programmed for, as the new GUI has changed a few things.

Also, an IP fixed for the receiver(s) you wish to control is a very good idea.....

The URL in the title is good, but explanations, etc. are in the forum.

My feelings exactly. Except for Directv, I would have no use for an ipad...I have pc's at home, I work with pc's at work...most of my daily life, I can access the internet. I don't pay for a data plan from my cell phone provider...it would be nice sometimes, but not worth the extra cost every month for me. So, I don't see an ipad in my future.

I know that you can't be cool unless you own at least an isomething, but at 54, I guess I'm just an old fart and don't care :) I don't see anything i in my future

I have an iPad and I think it was a waste of $500. I'd like to be able to control all twelve of my HRs with my computers. That would interest me. Certainly not a necessity, tho.

I was under the impression the android app was the same as the ipad app? I take it its not?

Personally I would have thought the progression would be Web, PC, then Ipad. I don't have anything against the Ipad, but not sure I understand the Ipad first approach on these things. While web based functionality might be more "generic" that a specific app, it can be used by phone, PC, Ipad, etc...

    Nah ....

The ipad app or "DAFI" is for DVR management on the home network, whereas "android app" as well as the iphone version usually refers to the remote DVR Scheduler app.

There is no android equivalent of the DAFI yet.

Until they make the Ipad have the ability to run more than 1 program at once I see this having a computer app to control things as a definite need. Just about everything else you do on an ipad you can do on a laptop so why not this?

We'll be getting an iPad soon, but when we do it will likely be in my wife's hands 90% of the time. I use my laptop, and would love to see an iPad-like app for it. Or a like app for other tablets that I, as a pc guy, might purchase for myself in the future.

Also, what the heck is iPham???

I will probably wait until there is a higher resolution iPad before I buy one. I would love to see a combo app for the PC with the functionality of the iPad app and DIRECTV2PC and even nomad control if possible.

It would get used at my house. I use my laptop in front of the TV quite a bit and this would keep me from having my iPad out at the same time. So, yeah... go for it! :)
