I'm surprised that with all the Irma preps in South Florida that DIRECTV didn't go live on Wednesday night or Thursday with one.

The storm isn't scheduled to arrive in Florida until tommorow night. They usually wait until the day the storm hits before they put up the Severe Weather channels.

Miami's ABC (Berkshire Hathaway) www.local12.com and WPB's CBS (Sinclair) www.cbs12.com have internet feeds for free.

I have not watched 100% of the time, but some of the issue, I think, is that DirecTV must be sure that the stations are going to100% emergency related material, as if the stations revert to the network or syndication for regular shows it would be a violation of copyrights. Given the fact that there is nothing really to be said until it starts to hit, and the extreme popularity of football, they may wait until late Saturday.

Oh, I'm with you -- most of the Florida network affiliates are up 24/7 on their web streams now, which I have been casting to my Chromecast in various forms; I'm just surprised that DirecTV hadn't pulled the trigger so far, especially given the number of people with direct ties or relatives in Florida (and now Georgia and the Carolinas) who are in the cone.

They're now in the guide, starting tommorow at approximately 12:30pm ET.

Based on the latest track, it will probably be a mix of Miami, Fort Myers and West Palm Beach at first and eventually Tampa, Orlando and points north.

The same numbers they're always on 361-1 for the Severe Weather Mix, 361-2 for the Severe Weather Channel

My snowbird parents have their fifth wheel at Club Naples RV Resort, which is in dire trouble with Irma, yet another potential disaster after the barely averted the fires earlier this year. We'll be tuned in, and listening here and there to the Broadcastify App...

I appreciate the channels, but a minor knickpick this time, as the storm swung west, DirecTV stuck mostly with stations from the Miami-Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach-Gold Coast-Treasure Coast markets; later using the Orlando-Daytona Beach stations; a better progression would have been the Naples-Fort Myers market and the Tampa Bay market.

Yes I was hoping for more coverage over there too. Oh well, our neighbors with Cable by me never got those extra channels for the storm.

All is done now with those channels as of about 12:15pm CST today- AT&T yanked them.
