Has anyone seen an irritating grey info box appear randomly on the guide, that states...Press Select for On Demand Programs, Press Info for Channel List View, and Press the play/pause button to tune to the Channel? Twice now this has popped up on my HR44, and the only way to get rid of it is to reset the device. Is it a bug? Is there a simpler way to get rid of it than a reset? :)

    I have not experienced your issue. HR54-200 (0x1420) - C61K-700 (0x13f5).

It does that when the channel logo on the left is selected.

Correct, but TDK1044 stated it "popped up" on his HR44. Maybe he can confirm whether it really popped up or did he select the channel logo on the left when this happened.

Maybe I had done that without realizing it. So, would the solution be to somehow deselect the channel logo? I was moving up and down the guide to try and get rid of the message.

This even happens on non-genie receivers. Been that way for a long, long time.

(As stated in posts 4 and 6) Grey box always pops up when the most-left (channel number) box is selected (highlighted), every time the guide is used.

There's no reason to even have that box highlighted unless you're going to get a column list of the channel or select on-demand.

Otherwise, just leave it highlighted in the current program selection, as it comes up first on the screen.

(The only other time I've seen it happen "randomly" is maybe when scrolling slowly past the inserted promos that are graphic lines in the guide, where you could wind up being in that channel number box when you get past one of those.)

At any rate, it shouldn't just randomly pop up on its own, especially if the channel number box is not highlighted. In that case, there's something else going on.

The post above this one is correct. This has happened to me, too. The only way to get rid of it is to re-set the box. The only way to prevent it from happening is to not click on the channel number/name on the left in the guide. There no logos there, don't know what people are talking about.

Initially there were logos when this version of the guide came out but a lot of people complained and they were removed leaving us with what we have now (channel number and identifier).

This must be what happened, but nothing short of a reset would get rid of the darn thing. :)

So when it pops up it doesn’t go away if you hit the right arrow and move over into the actual guide?

Yeah that box should disappear with any up, down, or right arrow movement (even if the channel number box is still highlighted).

If it's still there no matter what's highlighted in the guide, then for sure there is a problem of some kind.

The only other suggestions I can think of would be:

    A. Guide flush (two restarts within a half-hour), which should clear out any "corrupted" guide data.

    B. "CLEARMYBOX" command, which should clear out the guide too (and reportedly fixes other problems with HRs).

Correct. You can’t get rid of it unless you reset the box. The trick, I guess, is to be very careful not to use the left arrow to activate the info box.

Yes, I CE tested them. They should still be there, the logos are nice I think!

I can’t duplicate this. If I do as above hitting exit takes me out of it
