Is anyone having problems with Amazon's Prime Membership 2-day delivery?

Noticed next day delivery has jumped up in price. Ordered a 4K hdmi switch with 4 inputs and 2 outputs next day (tomorrow is $6.99).
Still reasonable would of been free shipping Monday but living in rural areas stuff like this is just not available. Amazon and internet has really changed where people can choose to live and still have all the conveniences of city shopping without the traffic.

My new Amazon Blu R1 HD smartphone was preordered last week to ship July 12 and arrive July 14.
It actually shipped at 8:45 pm July 11 and arrived at 1:45 pm July 12 by USPS. Of course it only traveled 60 miles from San Bernardino to my house but I'd say that's pretty fast delivery.

The way Amazon does that is rather interesting. While USPS handles the last mile delivery Amazon handles the sorting and delivery to the destination post office. A friend of mine is one of the truckers (they are independent contractors, not Amazon employees) and he shows up at the Amazon warehouse at 2 AM and gets pallets for 4 or 5 mountain post offices. He then gets those pallets to the post offices by 7 or 8 AM so they get delivered that day. This probably saves Amazon a little money but the big thing is it moves pickup time from 5 PM to 2 AM allowing things like your delivery to happen.

It has been my experience (and your mileage may vary) that delivery to a business address (like work) tends to be much better than delivery to a residential address. Thus, unless I'm getting a big item (like a television), it gets delivered to my workplace.

Whatever happened to the Amazon locker? Where I'm located (Sacramento, CA), the closest Amazon lockers are in Rocklin, CA and UC Davis, both long drives. This would be the perfect thing for nearby touristy areas.

My coffee maker quit working this morning. I checked Amazon for a replacement. Found one at $30 with free delivery set for next Monday. For Friday delivery there would have been an extra charge of $9. Went to Costco this morning and got the coffee maker for the same price immediately. I had other things to pick up at Costco plus cheap gas plus fixing my hearing aid so I don't factor my 6-mile drive there into any extra costs. Besides that I got a chance to listen to XMSirius radio on my new Subaru.

I am still a fan of Amazon. My two 64 GB microSD cards ordered Tuesday at a bargain price are out for delivery today. My replacement dryer knob from Amazon is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow at half the price Frigidaire wanted for it.

I received three packages via UPS today. One of them was marked UPS Surepost, which meant that they deliver to the post office, who delivers it to the final destination. I guess the driver figured that since he was coming to my house today anyway, he would eliminate the middle man and my package arrived a day earlier than it would have otherwise. One of the other packages was a 64 GB SanDisk USB flashdrive, my sole Prime Day purchase.

Once a FedEx driver brought me a package from Directv on the weekend. It was marked for weekday delivery only but he said that since he was going to be in my vicinity he might as well bring it.

Apparently delivery folks are much more thoughtful on Bainbridge Island than elsewhere. :righton:
