I got a call this morning from some guy I could hardly understand. The number was an Oregon number and not Dish. He claimed Dish was changing satellite positions so I may not get all of my channels. I have the 110/119/129 covered. Is there something new I have not read about? I told him I do all of my own work, so any changes I can make myself.
    Thanks.

Pretty sure it was a scam call. Someone looking to get your personal information.

That is what I figured, as I am sure I would would read about any major changes Dish was making. I cannot believe they would switch from 110/119/129 birds anyway, as look how many dishes they would have to change. Thanks.

I did not bother. I am in business and I get too many junk calls.

You would hear from DISH directly as well as the forums long before such a transition began.

Caller ID is pretty worthless anymore but you can rest assured that DISH wouldn't be calling you from an Oregon number (even if the caller was working in Oregon).

Oh yeah - for sure. That would be such a major change you probably would see it all over the internet before anybody contacted you about it. There are some of us in Dish's beta program out here, and they would probably hear about it before you heard anything on the Internet.

But would be prohibited from sharing such information based on the NDA.

On Topic: There are no signs of any changes that would require DISH subscribers to change their dish.

The undertaking to move everyone's dish to some other position seemed far-fetched anyway.

No more far fetched than convincing you to sign up for a service you already have or an alternative service that you don't want.

I get these scam calls for many years. What is really strange is that some calls will use Dish Network main phone # 800 333 DISH.

That is what I figured. Often we get info from this site before Dish formally announces it.

Dishes satellites are licensed for certain orbital locations and the FCC would have to approve any changed in satellite locations, so they would not be a surprise

That is true, so "any" satellite change positions, we will be alerted a long time in advance. Add to that the cost from Dish to realign everyone's dish. What an expensive undertaking.
