Is "Free upgrade to Genie" a good deal?

    Spoke to another CSR who assured me that if the CCK was not installed the order would be cancelled. She was VERY condescending in her tone in assuring me their rules were for the good of ALL the DirecTV customers and please don't get mad because I can't have what I want. I assured her that I wasn't MAD or upset, just a little frustrated and wished her a good day. I sent an email to Ellen Filipak (is she a real person?) outlining my situation. In the meantime I found an HR34 thru Amazon for $130 + shipping and ordered it. I know it will be a lease and maybe I can get some concessions from D*. If not, it's only money.

    Yes, Ms. Filipak is a real person.

    I feel that she is contacted far too often for trivial matters, not passing judgement on this matter at all, but just noting it for the record.

    That's good to know. Contacting her office via email did work for me as I received a prompt reply suggesting that I purchase from an outside retailer and D* will refund up to $200 once it is activated. It's too bad the CSRs and their supervisors can't be as responsive to a situation such as mine. CSR roulette is just too frustrating.

    Then you need to tell DirecTV that. They are the ones that advertised that if you are a customer and have a question or concern that you couldn't get resolved through their CSRs, to send her office an email.

    From what I've read, her "office" is more like several smaller call centers in multiple locations around the country.
