Is it me, or is DirecTV going down hill?

In my area that is true. We get Netflix free through T Mobile and don't subscribe to any other OTT service. We pay less having DirecTV and internet through ATT than having stand alone internet and an OTT due to the pricing.

This is one of the reasons I reverted to the lowest tier.

I haven't been on the earth long enough to experience true old directv, but we join in 09' and loved it. The system was simple and just worked. It wasn't flakey like dish. Also, while i'm here, we have noticed its easy to get rain fade and cloud fade. Any ideas?

Water saturated clouds that are in your dish's LOS cause rain fade even if it's not raining at your location.

Most likely due to changing weather patterns at your location.

Why do you think your LNB needs cleaning? I've had DIRECTV for nearly 25 years and never needed to clean the LNB.

I find when calling the retention department! If you want tech support, and you happen to get a AT$T support my experience has been that they are really not experienced enough to be of help. So hopefully you will get a tech support associate that has been with Dtv for a long time..
AT$T customer support are still learning!

Check your signal strength first. If readings indicate a dish realignment is needed call and have DIRECTV schedule a service call and let a pro realign your dish.

Possible but unlikely unless the LNB cover is damaged.

Aww, you didn't have an epiphany when you read that post? Isn't it nice to have folks around that worry about how much you spend on TV?

Stick a new HDD on that HR and see if the video and audio problems go away.

Get an external eSATA device and a new HDD and hook that up to your 44.

Get an eSATA to SATA with power cable and connect it to an SSD. Try to keep your head attached when you see how much faster it is.
