Is occasional picture break-up normal?

Judging by your avatar, you probably watch Yes Network a bunch. That channel is really bad with the breakups.

I also have been getting the same problem. It started about a month or 2 ago. A couple of bars I go to also have been experiencing the same thing.

I don’t profess to be knowledgeable WRT how difficult it is to deliver glitch-free video signals. However, I also listen to quite a bit of streaming audio on several different services, and glitches in the audio streams are very rare. Perhaps it is the different between delivering the signal via the network vs. a satellite transmission.

Hi, new here but not to DirecTv. Just yesterday I had all my equipment replaced after getting 775 errors on my Genie every few minutes and a HR22 that was unusable. I had a HR24 that still worked well.

Now I have a Genie 2 and three 61 4K Minis all hard wired to the new dish. They couldn't touch the old one on the chimney so installed the new one on the other side of the house. Everything was replaced except the RG6 which I moved from one side of the attic to the other. He did cut off every connector and re-terminated with new ones.

I have noticed about 6 times when the picture would freeze for a second or two then resume. This is different than the pixelization and 775 errors I was getting that the tech said was more likely a bad LNB than the power inserter.

    assuming it's HS17-xxx and C61K
that would be first time when DTV allowed HR24 and HS17 for ONE account !

    huh what?

Yes HS17-700 and three C61K minis.

I had (in past tense) a HR24. It is no longer used. I'm not sure what made you think I was still using it.

Anyway I was posting that this new equipment is still a little buggy. Hopefully it will go away once all the new stuff has the latest firmware. Two of the three C61K have had a software update so far.

I am getting a Samsung 82' (UN82MU800D) 4K delivered on Friday. It will replace my old 70' Visio monitor. I also ordered a Samsung 4K Blu-ray player.

This is my attempt to get up to date and have a kick ass home theater.

ah, OK, that's clear my doubts now ...

as to relay to DTV when they will fix bugs ... take your time... read here and you'll know how it goes (sometimes lasts years :( )

Also another issue just now for the 3rd time in 3 days have been watching a station that "freezes up" or goes all black and then after a little bit the "We are experiencing temporary technical difficulties. Please Stand by. We apologize for the inconvenience. " screen pops on.

    Frustrating

It may be a problem with the channel that Directv has no control over, hard to tell from that description. But if it is limited to just one channel (or a family of channels controlled by the same network) then it is probably beyond Directv's control.

The freezes have gone away since my last post. I do see occasional pixelation still. I have to say though it is nothing compared to the pixelation and freezing I see daily on my work TV on time Warner. I don't pay for that one so I can't really complain about it. I did receive my 82" Samsung today. The picture is amazing. 4K is just wow. The only setting I changed was to put the TV in movie mode. I have to fill in the pass thru to the kitchen before I can wall mount this beast.

I normally don't wake a thread from the dead but I've been having this a lot lately the last couple of days.

I have it a lot on the Genie 2. The worst part is the loud, annoying sounds that come out when the video messes up. This also happens when the recording reaches the end before the DELETE or KEEP dialog pops up. There is no excuse for this crap in a product we pay a small fortune for.

Yeah it's doing it to me on my HR54 or a Genie 1.

I was watching Nashville this evening and counted three instances of picture breakup. While this isn’t enough to concern me that much, it is still not pleasant. I have done enough trouble-shooting on my setup to conclude that the issue is external, i.e. the DTV signal itself.

A few of my 'glitches' are in the video stream. Unfortunately, many are not. If I rewind and replay the glitched section, it will play fine the second time. This tells me it is the DVR or the connection between the Genie 2 and the Wireless receiver.

After I rebooted last night it seemed to have corrected my issue so far.
