I have seen a few people say they have one, so I called D* to request one. They told me I couldn't request a specific model and would have to go to Circuit City or Best Buy... but they're not yet on the Circuit City or Best Buy web sites.

So if people have them... where and how are they getting them?

Well DirecTV told me it would be $49.95 with a 1 year commitment. It's all because it's NEW!.When your under a lease plan like we are now when you have to replace a receiver thru DirecTV you have to take what they give you.But if you have connections like know a local dealer or someone else it can be done.:)

Is there some reason you want a D12? The drawbacks are the D11 and D12 have a bright blue power light while the D10 has a mild green power light.:)

Pretty much just because it's new.

The D11 would be fine though.

Well to be totally honest with you.I have found the picture to be better on the D10
compared to the D11 plus the green light is easier on the eyes when watching TV.
    Just my observation.:)

I have two of them at my house.

Installed last week along with an HR20 HD DVR.

They look incredibly cheap compared to the previous "basic" receivers, but at least they include a digital audio out.

I decided just to go ahead and call D* and have them come out and install whatever standard def non-dvr receiver they had.

D* gave me the receiver for free with a $20 handling charge. Then the installer missed his appointment. He then showed up today with a D12.

With the $100 missed appointment credit, D* actually paid me $80 to come install a new D12. And since I signed up for a 2-year contract back in September, the 1-year commitment for the D12 doesn't actually count.

    How 'bout that. :)

I like the looks of the D11s better (silver, and a little smaller) but I love that the D12s seem to be much quicker on the initial set-up.

Yea this D11-300 seems like it's the same size as the D10-300,but it's silver with a
small blue power light instead of green. The D11-500 I had the power light was annoying but this one isn't just different design.:)

The new D12 are going to be cool cause they have the FTM module in them but they haven't been activated yet by what I've been told.:)
